What it says on the cover - By: G. J. Weeks, 28 Aug 2008
From Africans for Africa, an excellent one volume bible commentary. Non-africans too will benefit from its insights. With African cultures being closer to the ancient world than is the West today it gives a different perspective from the usual commentators. Very good value for the price.
Just super! - By: "Smith" Reader, 22 May 2008
The Africa Bible Commentary is a geat addition to my bookshelf. This volume provides a new insight into Biblical thought. Written by born again Christians who live in Adrica this book shows western Christians that there are ideas in Africa which have much to show us here. When starting an Exegesis for Sermon preparation just in the three weeks I have had this book it has bcome most important & is the first commentary I turn to.
Lucid Sensible and Relevant - By: Mr. A. Boycott, 31 Aug 2006
I purchased this commentary a couple of weeks ago after dithering about whether I should or not. From some of the sections I have read so far I am very impressed with the sensibility of the work & have found opportunity to gain inspiration & solace from its contents.
I am not a mainstream Protestant & I share in the Catholic scepticism of pedantry & blind fundamentalism that seems to be the backlash to the burgeoning secularism that is decimating the church in Europe. This is a commentary on the Bible entirely written by Born-again Christians in Africa & it is surprisingly relevant to European Christians, & notwithstanding some criticism from the Catholic Church in Africa, I do not feel any Christian who is truly seeking to understand & apply the teaching of Holy Scripture in their lives should ignore it.
Go on.. buy a copy & surprise yourself, it isn't expensive.
Good News from Africa - By: R. Bishop, 25 Jul 2006
I have had a copy for about two weeks & already treasure it as a very practical work coming from the hearts of born again African Christians. Having visited a few churches & some child centred projects in Africa I recognise the God dependency, compassion & urgent cry for justice of those who have contributed. I'm sure that we in the west have much to learn from our African brothers & sisters & this book, coupled with the relativley brief but deep fellowship I have enjoyed with Christians in Tanzania, Sierra Leone & Senegal will deepen my own awareness of God & my walk with him.
On a very practical note the book is well laid out, is not heavy & the font is very readable
