Well worth a read - but make your own mind up. - By: D. A. Stephens, 29 Nov 2007
I have read many of LaHaye's books, including most of the Left Behind series, & also "are we living in the last days?" After a fair bit of study, I find I cannot agree with much of what he writes. I believe we ARE in the end times, & I fully expect to be alive when the Antichrist is revealed, but I cannot buy into his pre-tribulation rapture ideas. I don't believe the Bible teaches that we will escape the tribulation, but that God will help Christians through it, in the same way that Noah & family still had to spend a year in the ark - they did not escape the effects of the Flood, even though God helped them through it & they weren't killed by it. Tim LaHaye has helped me to come to these conclusions because he has given a full explanation of his arguments in this book & others. It is therefore possible to see whether he is right or wrong.

Read this book with an attitude of discovery, with a Bible, & compare it to others such as David Pawson, who make a very different argument. Then make your own mind up - don't just believe what the reviewers (me included) will tell you. One thing I will say for Tim LaHaye, is that he has a heart to spread the gospel & to see as many saved as possible before Jesus returns in glory to rule the world & destroy Satan. That is a noble desire. I just feel that the pre-trib rapture has become his hobby-horse to the point of dogma, & he therefore feels he has to write (prolificallly) to justify his point of view.
Very disappointing - By: Chris Of The OT, 12 Jul 2006
I was enthrallled by LaHaye's interpretation of Revelation from the `Left Behind' series & purchased this title, reallly, just looking for answers.

LaHaye offers us a straight forward chapter-by-chapter commentary on Revelation rather than an exposition which comes across as a vast sermon, not a bona fide study. He gives the absolute minimum of coverage to alternative interpretations & these are quickly glossed over in the text.

LaHaye's understanding of Revelation is based on very old, usuallly out-dated (and often discredited) theological interpretation: in his bibliography of twenty-three entries, the newest is `The Beginning of the End' from 1972 - & this is his own work! Most are from the 1950s (seven out of the twenty-three), five are from the 1960s & alll but two of the remainder come from before the second world war.

Ultimately LaHaye's `Revelation Unveiled' is theologicallly very thin & unconvincing. Claims like `most of Revelation unfolds chronologicallly' (page 17) are summarily dismissed by modern commentators who do not accept that you can interpret Revelation so literallly. For an accessible & powerfully useful introduction into this area, I recommend John Drane's `Introducing the New Testament', which is up to date & well balanced. (It is easier & much more beneficial to start apocalyptic study with the Gospels - for instance Mark 13 - & Drane covers alll the Gospels & their influences wonderfully.)

If, like me, you are looking for answers, those that LaHaye offers will be disappointing.
A waste of time, money, and trees - By: , 28 Feb 2002
This book is horrible in its analysis. It shows the weak underlying exegetical basis of their much-heralded Left Behind series. I wish the person who gave this book to me had left behind this book on the shelf. LaHaye takes literal what is symbolic thus providing a weak interpretation of the text. If you are going to spend some money on a Revelation book - see Richard Bauckham's helpful text: The Theology of the book of Revelation. He takes seriously the symbols & let's scripture speak on its own terms. LaHaye is clearly trying to sell books while he can. That said, if you like the fiction he writes you will agree with much of this book - too bad though because it's an inadequate treatment of Revelation & chooses to speak when it should remain silent.
A Wonderful riviting book - By: , 04 Aug 1999
This book was great! If you are wondering where the writers got their scriptural bases for the "Left Behind" series this is it. I read it & it reallly makes Revelations even more clear.
Good for those wishing to understand the book of revelation. - By: , 07 Jul 1999
From what I have read, REVELATION UNVEILED is very accurate. A very good guide for those wishing to understand the book of Revelation better. This book includes charts & other things to help you understand the Rapture even better. GET THIS BOOK! THE RAPTURE IS CLOSE AT HAND!!!
