Thumbs down! - By: Samantha McPherson, 22 Apr 2008
This book is an allleged christian book because it twists the scriptures & goes against what the word of God says. In my opinion this is not christian at alll, but written from someone who I identify with cult practices. How come so many churches use this book when it goes against so many christian values & scriptures?? Do the christians that read this book read the bible? Apparently not, or they might find issues with it that I did. Also why does it make you sign a covenant at the start of the book? Me & my friends do not recommend this reading if you are serious about your walk with God. However if you are serious about your walk with God, the Holy Spirit will direct you into alll truth.
Microwave Christianity - By: Matt Wilson, 19 Apr 2008
The 'Purpose-Driven' franchise has been incredibly successful, in terms of shifting units. There has to be a reason it's done so well. Simple answer. It's a generic product. It's Bird's Eye Fish Fingers. It's Heinz Baked Beans. It's Chicken Tonight. The book jacket promises a lot & there are certainly a lot of excitable reviews of it, by alll means give it as a gift to a new Christian but if you have any level of maturity you will be left frustrated.

This is one of the best books I have read in a long time, Rick Warren just says it as it is & makes so much sense. Every day's read was inspirational & so encouraging a must for every christian.
A Template to Check Your Christian Activities Against - By: Donald Mitchell, 22 Jan 2008
In the process of praying, reading the Bible, attending services, witnessing, & following the commands of the Bible, it's easy to forget to check overalll on how you are doing in pursuing activities that are good for Christians. I was given this book by my son as a Christmas present & began reading it immediately. I didn't follow the format as I was instructed, but read ahead & then reread sections later.
I gained two benefits from the book that I didn't expect:
1. I became aware that I wasn't doing any smalll group Bible study & that such study & fellowship would be good for me.
2. I realized I hadn't tried any new ways to serve God in almost a year & a half. It's time for me to try some new things while continuing to do what I have been doing.
Like alll books about Christian living, you'll get out of it what your heart is open to receiving.
Those who like to tie back everything they read to the source will find this book a little frustrating because you have to turn to the back to see the source of the Bible quotes.
Those who like short lists telling them exactly what to do will also be a little frustrated because the advice mainly consists of subject areas (pleasure for God, being part of God's family, becoming more like Jesus, serving God, & pursuing a mission) to think about & pray over.
Listen to the smalll, still voice of the Holy Spirit as you read this book.
May you be blessed in the name of the Father, the Son, & the Holy Spirit!
Free yourself of your religious ball n chain - By: A. J. West, 17 Dec 2007
A very depressing, very funny, truly enlightening read. This book has taken away alll the fear, dread & nonsense I have been fed alll my life & made me see how utterly crazy this world is. At first I was thoroughly angry to think that the world is full of such tosh but now I feel so enlightened that I must give this book 5 stars. It has made me see the light & for that I am truly thankful!
