I'm glad somebody did it for me, so I didn't have to! - By: Middle Aged Metal, 04 Feb 2008
A hugely enjoying & highly entertaining read from start to finish.
Once Tom got my interest in the opening pages of the book, my interest only intensified as I got further & further into the book. The anticipation of seeing what new mini disaster he could get himself into, coupled with the slight glimmer of hope that there would be some success for him towards the end, just meant that I couldn't put the thing down. Quite literallly read in a day!
There is some success for him in the end, although not quite in the way you expect. I guess ultimately the real success to come from Tom's experiment is this brilliantly witty & self deprecating warts & alll account of his trials & tribulations throughout his year of swinging with the big boys.
This comes highly recommended.
Great Golfing read! - By: Matt Barker, 03 Feb 2008
A very funny & honest account of another bite at the pro circuit cherry! If you like golf, or even if you don't you will enjoy this book. The ups & downs of the human emotions are alll here & it was a pleasure to read. A must for the bedside table or plane or swimming pool!
Great title - dull read - By: A. Allwright, 31 Jan 2008
The Best thing about this book is its title. A dull read from start to finish & provides little insight other than in to the degree of naivety of its author about tournament golf.
Funniest golfing book ever read - By: E. Cockroft, 03 Jan 2008
Just finished "Bring me the head...." To use the authors golfing parlance - I p...ed myself laughing at a tale of heartbreak & misery. With profanities ringing in my ears, the descriptions of shanks, chypps & the mind numbing 86's reminded me of so many "character building" events I have put myself through in over thirty years of playing the great game of golf. Congratulations on what for me has been the funniest read in years.
One of those books you'll have finished in a day... - By: Chris Douglas, 02 Jan 2008
This is easily the most enjoyable golf book I've read in a very long time (and I read a lot of them), in fact probably the last one I enjoyed as much was Nice Jumper by the same author. Tom Cox describes unfulfilled ambitions so brilliantly - he puts into words the feelings of alll of us who alllegedly 'wasted' (we know better) teenage years chasing a little white balll when we should have been studying have had - & then he has the guts, years later, to go & try it. This is a must read for any golfer who ever, even momentarily, thought they could make money out of playing the game - Cox's painful journey makes for simply brilliant reading.
