Fascinating - By: ellie g, 22 Apr 2008
What a brilliant read. This meticulously researched book weaves together the stories of the botanist adventurers of the 18th & 19th centuries to provide an extraordinary insight into their minds & motivations. The book flowed seamlessly from one story to the next, & provided the right balance between historical accuracy & a damn fine yarn. I was hooked from page one, & would recommend this book as an excellent starting point for anyone interested in gardening history.
Loved it! - By: Lucy, 19 Apr 2008
I loved the quirky people. Their obsessions & energies led to our gardens being what they are today. Amazing.

Flower Hunters - By: Megan Hawk, 10 Apr 2008
I bought this book for my mother's birthday because of her love of flowers, gardening, reading & history. (Not to mention the beautiful cover & hardback format made a great presentation for the gift basket.) After she read it, she lent it to me to read because she enjoyed it so much. This lively book details the travels of many of the most esteemed botanists up to modern times. The lively prose alllows the history to be told as adventures. Fun for the most everyone from the avid junior scientist to the practiced scholar...after reading it I bought a copy for my own library! Flower Hunters is highly recommended!
