Another great book - By: F. Mineard, 01 Aug 2008
I found this book reallly hard to put down even though it wasn't as funny as the other Walsh sister stories. I just wish I knew a family like them. They are hilarious! It's obviously a much sadder story & I reallly felt upset at several times because it alll seemed so unfair! But there were a lot of funny parts too & I loved when Anna reminisced about Aiden & her together. I'm sure in time there will be a 'Helen' story so hopefully we'll find out then if she met anyone else.
Marvelous Marian - By: Sarah, 25 Jul 2008
this was the first book by marian keyes i read, & since then have read almost alll of her other novels! she is a superbly talented author & deserves great credit for this book. i read this on holiday & had it finished in no time. it made me laugh, cry & cringe in horror. beautifully written with perfect sentiment & touching storyline. as ever i would recommend any marian keyes books to everone. amazing book & a wonderful addition to the walsh story.
Anybody Out There? - By: Sam, 07 Jul 2008
I found this book to be extraordinary in the sense that the underlying shadow of the story does not raise its head for what seems an excruciatingly long time; & that as a reader you are compelled to keep reading in order to find out exactly where Aiden is. I found this book to be extremely touching & felt that without the humor in which Marian touches on it would be quite a depressing read.
There were many moments i let out some tears as the plot progressed, & even a moment where i had to put the book down as i became so emotional. You reallly get to understand the character of Anna & it reallly reminds you to appreciate those who are near & dear to you. I would defiantly recommend this as a read, it cannot be put down. I also suggest refraining from reading on public transport, that is unless you do not mind sobbing in-front of the stranger next to you.
Wonderful - By: Zoe A., 05 Jun 2008
One of my favourite books. Marian stays faithful to her humorous style, but this book has a depth & personality to it that puts it right there at the top for me.
I enjoy Marian Keyes' books, & Anna with her endearing personality & interesting life, combined with the romance she finds in this book topped with the typical & funny Walsh family situations, brought me to laughter, & also tears...
For Keyes fans - this book is definitely worth a read.
funny and poignant - By: Carrie Sue' Bradshaw, 04 Jun 2008
I've recently 'discovered' Marian Keyes, & I love the way she switches from comedy to pathos, particularly with this book.
There's almost two stories going on here, the main one focusing on Anna herself, & then the amusing subplot of her eccentric family back in Ireland.
I found the parts set in New York very easy to relate to, after living there for a brief time, alll in alll a very satisfying read.
