Best so far - By: , 26 Mar 2006
Having read alll of her books so far (and waiting for the newest one in the Walsh family saga to be released in April '06), I am still coming back to this one again & again. In my opinion it's Marian Keyes' best book so far. I have read it several times & it never gets boring. It is uplifting, funny, sometimes you'll get a tear in your eye. It revisits the Walsh family (Watermelon, Rachel's holiday) & this time centres around the "boring" one, the quiet one, the good girl Margaret who leaves her husband & runs off to LA to stay with her friend. Cue attempts to be different & dangerous, just to realise that being normal & quiet is ok as long as you are happy. As long as you know what you want & who/how you are, you are alright. Not just funny, mindless escapism but well written chick-flick at its best
Humour in a book, witty , charming, yet sad and hopeful - By: nadine grant, 20 Mar 2006
Brilliant brilliant brilliant!I loved this book so much ive read it & re-read it a number of times.Didnt love it as much as The other side of the story though!Cheers you up when your feeling down!Maggie finds her relationship with her husband garv in tatters after she discovers he has been emotionallly unfaithful, so with little deliberation she jets off to L.A to stay with her friend emily, to recuperate. Anyway to cut a long story short, she regains her youth by sleeping with alll & sundry only to realise she still loves her hubby.I always laugh out loud to marian keyes books & shalll be buying the next one, defo! This book makes you feel like your reallly there living every moment in the characters shoes. It's witty, charming & full of real life phrases & personas i loved it.

This is the kind of "cant put it down" book that i love. Keyes writes in a flawless fashion that makes any situation seem plausible. Her writing just keeps on getting better & it is by far & away her best book yet. The reader reallly gets to know the characters & by the end of the book, reallly cares about what happens to them. The first-person narrative is ideal for her kind of writing! It is honestly one of the funniest most entertaining books ive ever read & i had to get my hands on her other novels as soon as i had finished this one. It is quite a long book but i would recommend it to anyone who loves a good, funny, believable story! Along the lines of her "Under the Duvet" work it is a book not to be missed - you'll be talking about it for weeks!
