I cant believe im going to say this coz i love the series to bits! But these books surpass them by far. Definately one of the best books i've ever read! I suggest any smeghead gets it immediately & anyone else should too!
Enjoy! - By: Lis, 05 Aug 2005
It's not quite the same as the TV sitcom it spawned, but this book is quality.

It's not laugh-a-minute stuff, some of it is even almost poignant, but it's a roaring good read & you won't regret buying this one. A book to read, put away on a bookshelf, & to return to a few years later, when it will be a delight to re-discover.

strange - By: , 26 Dec 2004
It's odd how this book works once you've seen the tv show. The Lister in the book seems to give more character to the Lister in the show; they are the same, but different... & very funny as well as clever.
Buy the book & you'll see what I mean. It's smegging great!
Dwarfers Delight - By: Mr. G. Robinson, 19 Sep 2003
Red Dwarf: Infinity welcomes carefull drivers. This is the second book in the series of four, based on the increadibly popular BBC 2 sci-fi comedy show Red Dwarf. Lister, the main character, is the last human being in the Universe. Red Dwarf is the ship in which he lives out his lonly existence. However he does have some companions, one being a hologram of his dead superior, one being a life form that evolved from his cat Frankenstien, Kryten a sanitation mechanoidand the ships computer, Holly.

Stranded 3 million years from Earth, the four fight daily diffuclties of life in outer space. In the book they break the light barrier, meet Archimedes & Lister finallly gets a much- needed curry along with 6 cans of cheap lager. Lister & Rimmer (Listers dead superior) create a comedy duo that equels that of Laurel & Hardy & Morcambe & Wise. Lister's slobish nature is in wonderful contrast to the prissy & immaculate Arnold J Rimmer who belives he was Napolion in an earlier life. Kryten the sanitation mechanoid, whose whole existence revolves around cleaning up after Lister, is a fun character as is the Cat, whose compleatly self-centred life style produces many laughs.
It took me 3-4 days to read this book & I throughly enjoyed it. There were plenty of laughs & a good story. It kept me turning the pages. If you enjoyed the show you will enjoy the book.
A couple of quid well spent, me thinks!

Still the best sci fi comedy books ever - By: , 06 Mar 2003
I first read this book about 10 or so years ago & it still reamins my favourite book ever.
The book follows closely to the BBC2 TV series with some extra bits that they wouldn't have been able to film. (budget reasons) I won't go into the details of the plot as lots of other people on this page have do so already, but I will mention the easy to read style of the book & the many laugh out lould moments.
If youv'e never read a red dwarf novel but like the TV show, then I suggest reading this now, you don't know what your missing. If your not a fan of the TV show then this book might change your mind. Excellent
