Prof. Nicholls taught me during my biochem degree some ten or more years ago, consequently this book was on the reading list, it was in fact worth every penny I totallly loved this topic which can be hard on the old brain cells but this book takes you through it in an interesting way. I loved the cartoons aswell. If you struggle with bioenergetics then this book is worth the investment, put it this way I still have it on my shelf!!!

i am currently in my second year studying biochemistry at Oxford University, & this text book has been essential for my past terms tutorial work studying bioenergetics. It has guided me through tutorials on photosynthesis, the electron transport chain & ATP synthesis, & been an invaluable reference! it also covers many other aspects of bioenergetics, including bacterial metabolism (energy transduction through electron transport chains) & chemiosmotic theory. Fergusson what an amazing guy - & a brilliant lecturer too! worth buying for sure!
