Easy to follow, common sense diet. - By: Ms. Ann-Marie J. Fiddy, 12 Apr 2008
I decided to try out this book after gaining 2 & a half stones over several years.Having never dieted before, I wasn't sure how to go about it, but didn't want to crash diet or begin a faddy, unhealthy diet.
I ordered this book in January & it has been invaluable. It sets out the principles of the GI hip & thigh diet - low fat, low calories, high GI eating, & is very easy to follow. It explains the pitfallls of crash dieting & also explains the importance of exercise in losing weight. While not following the recipes in the book, the principles behind the eating plan seem sound & are not difficult to follow - with a bit of willpower.
I do feel there is some over-emphasis in the book on marketing her other products, such as her portion pots.I did order some & to be honest have never used them - it is easier to use scales & a calorie count book. I feel that sometimes the book is marketing these tools & not focusing on other ways to count calories & weigh & measure.
It also has a strong emphasis on following the recipes in the book - not easy when you are cooking for three, one of which is a disabled child on a weight-gain diet & a husband with an active job.
However, despite these criticisms I would say that the idea behind the diet is worth following & the book worth a read.
Finallly, I wish the book would give more guidance about what to do after reaching your target weight - calorific intakes are suggested for different stages of weight loss, & indeed weight & ages of individuals - however, there is no real guidance about keeping it off, which would be useful too.
All in alll, a useful book which has been by my side throughout my diet....
HOW EASY IS THIS! - By: Leasey Lou, 12 Jan 2008
I have been on this diet plan for 5 days now & have lost a staggering 10lbs & my husband (who only has 1 stone to lose) has lost 6 lbs! The meals are quick & easy & I haven't felt hungry once. The family eats alll of the meals & the kids haven't complained one bit. The weekly shopping list makes things easy & if you have to buy a pack of something it alll gets used in that week (unless advised to freeze some of it).
Worth while buy to kick start any diet.
not worth the wait - By: Mrs. April Cunningham, 11 Jan 2008
Following Rosemary Conley over the last twenty years since her first Hip & Thigh diet came out, I waited excitedly for this new addition. Only I was very disppointed. The recipes are boring & not as good as the first book & she also seems to be selling her portion pots in every recipe. I think that her first Hip & Thigh Diet book was the best book she wrote & think this is by far the worst.
Judge a book by it's cover - By: Mr. A. Whiteside, 19 Dec 2007
I know that this book hasn't even been released yet but one look at the divine Rosemary Conley on the front cover should be enough to convince you of what can be achieved by following her health tips.
The lady herself is 60,she looks amazing in her jeans, has a lovely slim waist & looks a picture of health. She could very easily pass for being 20 years younger than she is & her previous books have sold millions.Buy this book if you want to look as good as the lady herself. You have to admit, she is a stunner.
I feel that I must just add that I have now seen this book & it does look to be an outstanding addition to Rosemary's collection with loads of hints & several very helpful photos of the lovely lady herself as she shows you how to get that body you have always dreamed of.Top drawer & a must buy.
