Excellent - By: L. BETTLES, 05 Oct 2008
I had watched the DVD of the series prior to reading this book. However this did not detract at alll from my enjoyment of it, in fact it enhanced it. Chris Terrill does a great job of describing the characters & the situations they face. Furthermore you can sense his genuine passion of the RM Commandos, & as for his efforts on completing the commando selection tests...I am in awe.

For me, someone who is actively pursuing a career in the marines, this book is a fantastic read. It shows many positive aspects of Corps life but also reminds the reader of the harsh realities which come about when in active service for the marines or perhaps any armed service. Very easy to follow, gripping from start to finish & quite moving in parts, i would recommend it to anyone with an active interest in the forces & any aspiring Royal Marines Commando.

This is Chris's personnel journey throughout the trials & tribulations of making the series. It tells us in detail the hardships endured by any Marine recruit, & especiallly those endured by Terrill.
This is an excellent accompaniment to the TV Series.

Great book best on the market - By: Henry Dm Dixon, 16 Jan 2008
I picked up this book after seeing a few of the tv series episodes. I could hardly put the book downand read it in a matter of days. it is probably the best book of it genre on sale at the moment. For a young adult aspiring to be a Royal Marine it was further proff of why i have wanted to join from a child. An amazing insight into the lives & roles of royal marines & what to expect if you were to join.

I recently read this book after watching the tv series, which I loved. As someone who is in the process of joining the Royal Marines this book was a great help as it highlights the standard of fitness required & proves that the training team at Lympstone reallly do want alll recruits to pass the course despite appearing overly harsh-a useful point to remember when suffering in training. The book describes the 32 week commando course in detail & provides a very helpful insight into training especiallly advising you that Lympstone is just a short, unpleasant ordeal that has to be completed, leading on to a desirable career in the Royal Marines.
