Mary Wesley at her best. The characters are alll outstanding & the exploits are funny. Poppy Carew is the type of woman I would like to be. Loved by those who meet her & a generallly wonderful character!

I was getting ready to board an airplane with nothing to read, so I popped into the bookstore, perused & picked this book by an author previously unknown to me. In spite of a hectic schedule, I finished the book in two days. I wanted to meet the character & have a chat. I felt by the end of the book, I had done just that.

It is the trials & tribulations of a woman trying to sort through her life, bury her father & come to terms with her distant father/daughter relationship with him & men in general. There was only one character I couldn't stand (by design), quite unusual in most books currently in print. Many interesting sub-plots. I intend to buy several more books by this author.
