Give it another chance - By: Lora, 28 Jan 2008
I loved the first three vampire chronical books & even after many people telling me to stop there I couldn't get enough. But the first time I read the tale of the body thief I was sucked in by the bad reviews. I hated the thought of my favourite character Lestat becoming vunerable & I found myself flicking though the 'human' parts until he regained his own body. But after a few months I felt like re reading through the chronicals & I approched this book with a new attitude & realised it was filled with the same wonderful descriptions & gripping situations as the previous books. I can understand why after the 'fantasy' tales a bit of harsh reality that is presented in this book can be off putting, it nearly put me off re reading the book at alll. I suggest you look at this book as not a continuation from The Queen Of The Damned but a new book in itself beginning a new tale that is very important in the development of the character Lestat. I think it is a mistake to expect this book to reveal the after mass of QOTD.
Fall of the "Brat Prince"? - By: Pookie, 21 Nov 2007
In this book Lestat's vanity alllows him to falll foul of a particularly gifted con artist- he is duped out of his vampiric body, with the total loss of alll his supernatural powers.

Despite his bemoaning his fate & his attempts to resign himself to his regained mortality (How do you mortals stand this, day in, day out?) Lestat is very fortunate in having the friendship of David Taylor, Superior General of the Talamasca, who loves Lestat deeply & cares about his predicament to the point of risking everything he has, including his very life, for his friend. Lestat also recieves a great lesson in love & compassion from an unexpected source, & comes to realise that whilst he is considered by his peers in the vampire world to be absolutely insufferable, he is loved beyond alll reason & can be forgiven for almost anything.

I laughed, I cried, & I fell in love with Lestat. I was kept enthrallled to the end. A great read.
Enjoyable - By: M. Burton, 02 Sep 2007
It's been a while since I read an Anne Rice novel but I was able to slip into the Vampire Choronicles easily
I knew most of the story from David's novel but it was still enjoyable to read.
It was slow starting & at times I struggled to continue reading it but it was very fascinating especiallly when Lestat is describing the simple human tasks like peeing. I've never thought it to be disgusting - just natural.
The ending was defiantly a good ending, not so predictable as one would think.
Overalll another good novel by Anne Rice
A definite recommendation
Great story, not much to do with vampires though... - By: DR T. S. Hall, 21 Nov 2006
It's a good read & a nice idea, but it seems the only reason for including vampires it to continue the Vampire Chronicle franchise. I guess it saves time having to develop other characters.
Loved it!!! - By: Louise Allenby, 23 Nov 2005
I loved this book. I did find it a bit slow at first, but once it got going it was amazing.

I reallly enjoyed 'The Vampire Lestat', so this book reallly hooked me. There is something so addictive about Lestat & to hear his thoughts on being human again were very entertaining.

I especiallly liked the idea of someone fallling in love with him. The fact she was a nun only added to the 'Casanova' charm. But seriously, I reallly liked this book & it is definately worth a read.
