Interesting for its insight but not really a gripping story. - By: H. Pope, 13 Jul 2008
I enjoyed this book, not reallly for the story, but more for the insight it provided into the thought processes behind the behaviour of people with Asperger's Syndrome. Having studied the condition briefly in psychology, it reallly brought to life alll the repercussions Asperger's Syndrome has on both the person & those around them. The most saddening aspect of this book was to watch the thwarted attempts Christopher's father makes to connect with his son after his lies have been revealed. I also learnt a few intriguing mathematical conundrums along the way which definitely added interest for me! Because the book was written from Christopher's point of view it is not reallly a literary accomplishment by traditional standards, but the way in which Mark Haddon convincingly writes from Christopher's perspective is definitely empathetic & thoughtful. I would recommend this to those seeking an insight into the condition but perhaps not if you are after a gripping story with literary prowess.
Very interesting - By: Ms. Joanne Fitzpatrick, 08 Jul 2008
While this is not the most amazing book I have ever read it is certainly worth reading. It is different from anything I have ever encountered before & probably ever will again. It's a very easy book to read but still with lots going on with some lovely plot twists, funny moments & saddness alll mixed in together.

Brilliant book - By: M. P. Stratfold, 07 Jun 2008
I read it myself & then with my daughter who is six years old (missing out some of the colourful language). We both got a lot from the book & found it a useful starting point for alll kinds of discussions about who we are. Also we have followed up some examples from the book on the net. Great stuff!
brilliant and easy to read - By: C. L. Heffer, 19 May 2008
This book is so easy to read I read it in a few hours. I took it on holiday & everyone read it, including my mum, who has only read 1 book ever before this.
A great read for anyone, old & young. An insight into what goes on in someone elses mind. Funny, sad, interesting. Only good things to say about this book, read it & you'll find out.
