P.S. - ADDITIONAL MATERIAL - By: Patty O'Heeter, 24 Feb 2008
Potential purchasers should note this listing is for the 2005 Harper Perennial reprint of the book which features 8 pages of additional material including contemporary interviews with the author & some of the survivors.
As for the book itself, it remains the only book I literallly couldn't put down & read in one extended sitting. It still retains that power & the additional material make this the edition to own.
Brilliant and truly thought provoking - By: J. Kisseih, 28 Sep 2007
This book is the story of human survival - it makes your think - most people would do what the survivors of this aircrash in the Andes did & that is eat the meat of their dead co-passengers. There were one or two who refused to eat & they died - you have to truly admire them for their principles & beliefs that lasted until they breathed their last breath. If there is a paradise they should be in it.
Fantastic - By: Mr. P. Gascoyne, 01 Dec 2006
I can honestly say this is the best book I have ever read, because it stands out as being the only book I reallly could never put down.
It couldn't have been written better & knocks the absolute spots off the film.
Highly recommended.
False Pretences: inaccurate synopsis - By: TheInformer, 11 Sep 2006
according to the "back cover" blurb here it says "Piers Paul Read, himself a survivor of the crash". So, having met one of the survivors myself, I bought it.

When I get the book I realise Read was NOT a survivor of the crash, & it does NOT say that on the back cover.

I've been sold a pup! And not for the first time... I'll read Nando Parrado's book instead.
GRIPPING!! - By: Mr Glenn Mckie, 05 Apr 2006
An epic of human spirit, endurance & endeavour against the elements, desperation & death.

What is a little suprising is that even in the face of the most inhuman circumstances some still found humour. A true story of amazing solidarity & faith in themselves & humanity.

I read it in three days & couldn't put it down.

If you have Google Earth, take a look at the terrain using the tilt feature...it is truly an amazing achievment.
