A cliche, but this is really a 'page turner' - By: ANTHONY Baird, 16 Jul 2008
I just loved this book, easy to read but with complex characters.
Patterson keeps you guessing, but you have empathy & in some cases outright contempt for some of the characters.
Tony Lord is almost too good to be true, but the fact that he has flaws makes him the 'hero' of this awesome thriller.
Highly recommended.
Patterson delivers. - By: Peter Lewis, 07 Apr 2008
This has to be without doubt the best book i have ever read. I cant praise it enough, it was quite simply superb. A must read for everyone.
Great novel !! - By: Mr. Tony Griffiths, 18 Sep 2007
This is my first Richard North Patterson novel. And believe me, it won't be my last.
His character portrayal in this book is excellent, & the plot pacey & thought-provoking.
I read this in two days, which is some going I think considering its a fair size novel. And I thought it was great.
Now on to my next Patterson!!
Brilliant - By: P. Gill, 14 Jun 2002
This book is about as good as it gets & is arguably Patterson's best work. The author switches the story from past to present with ease, which helps bring the story together. The story is of Tony Lord, a lawyer, who returns to his home town to help out a friend accused of murder. Patterson has a brilliant way of building each character. The book is so good that you reallly do feel for the central characters, especiallly Lord. I did guess the ending before it happened, but only just. Yet it didn't spoil the book, which remains one of my favourites to date. Who is John Grisham?
A real page-turner - By: , 03 Aug 2000
This has got to be one of the best books I have ever read. It's enthrallling, captivating, gripping & any other such adjectives you can think of. I particularly liked the way in which the author takes the reader back 30 years to set the scene. The attention to detail & the empathetic way in which the reader can identify with each of the characters, especiallly Tony Lord, is excellent. This book kept me hooked well into the wee smalll hours of the night. The fact that the ending became quite predictable did not detract from my enjoyment of the story at alll. This is the first book I have read by this author, but I'll definitely be reading more. Thanks for lending it to me Sis.

Well done, Richard, keep up the good work!
