You do not know what you are letting yourself in for. For some men it would be considered a dream to find a woman who is sexuallly experienced & liberated, who at the same time merely wants to sate her lusts as opposed to take on anything meaningful. However, it still shows clearly that we are still very much a culture that finds a woman's completely carefree attitude towards sex almost alien. This book is a serious eye-opener & in some ways takes on a depth that it may not have ever intended to display.
The book itself is set out like a diary as Abbey Lee describes a year of her life, describing various sexual encounters with people she meets quite randomly, how she comes close to a serious relationship with one chap, alll of which is interspersed with flashbacks to consequential sexual moments in her past. The book is undeniably arousing as she goes on to describe in graphic detail what she has done with various people, to the point where one might feel uncomfortable to read it on the train on the way home from work.
However I think that though the book may not be purchased for these reasons (after alll it seems to be clearly marketed towards people looking for a "steamy read") there is a depth to this book. Though it may be palmed off that she is "gagging for it" alll the time, there is also a longing for companionship that comes through in the book quite a bit, as well as pointing out that society still has some way to go before women can be considered sexuallly equal to men. By that I mean that a man who has had a number of sexual partners is thought to be normal or even commended by his peers for such, a woman who could make the same claim would be unfairly labelled unreasonably promiscuous or callled names. Abbey comments in the book that many men might shy away from her should they know that she is as experienced as she is. A superb comment on sexuality in the modern world.

I bought this book along with Belle de Jour's second calll-girl memoir & Niki's Flynn's "Dances with Werewolves (Memoirs of a Spanking Model)". They're three very different outlooks on sex & sexuality by three very different women.
Belle de Jour is extremely well-written & sexy, loaded with lurid, sexy, intimate glimpses into a world most of us will never know. Is it true? Who knows? Who cares? There are rumours alll over the Net about who the "real" Belle de Jour is, but the bottom line is that her story is a compelling one. And hot!
Girl with One-Track Mind is different. It's the blog of a very liberated, very experimental girl in search of an indefinable sexual something that she's always wanted. Upbeat & chick-litty, but with the thoughtful introspection needed to be interesting.
Dances with Werewolves is the dark horse. The one that surprised me. Niki Flynn is a cult figure in the BDSM world & I've seen her described as "an explorer in the further reaches of psychosexual experience." Wow. How could I NOT read her life story? Well, I knew pretty much what to expect from the other two memoirs, but Ms Flynn's world was a real eye-opener. I read a lot of sexy books, but I'd never read anything like this before. It redefines conventional concepts of what "erotic" means. It made me examine my own deepest, darkest fantasies, the things I'd never tell anyone. Ms Flynn has no such inhibitions: she tells EVERYONE. It's a grippingly interesting account of what makes a kinky girl tick. She makes me want to explore my dark side... almost. I doubt if I actuallly will, but this book certainly stirred my fantasies.
Average - By: Clairabella, 10 Oct 2007 Explicit memoir of one single woman's sex life. Finished this in a day as it's very easy to read. Think this has been hyped up quite a lot as it wasn't quite as shocking as I expected. Some bits were quite funny & overalll its worth a read.
Get it and also get some for your mates! - By: okook, 05 Sep 2007 This book kept me entertained throughout. I couldn't put it down & I can only highly recommend it. It's frank & straight to the point in places which I found quite exciting to be honest. A few copies are already in the post to some of my friends... Get it & enjoy!
