Any body heard of Baby led Weaning? - By: E. K. Devine, 19 Jan 2008
I bought this book before I had come across the concept of Baby Led weaning. This is a process of introducing your baby to food that the family eats. Babies are perfectly able to pick up & eat solid food from as young as 6 months. The gag reflex they have is not chocking, it is a natural response from stopping them eating before their gut is ready to receive solid food. In this book the purees introduce solid food into a babies gut at a time that may not be appropriate. If your baby can push things to the back of it's mouth & swalllow then it is ready for solid food. Mushing food up & forcing it past their gag reflex can actuallly damage your baby & cause digestion problems for the rest of it's life.
Breastfeeding mothers will also be aware of the concept of letting the baby decide how much it would like to eat. If you give your child the freedom to pick up solid food from the start of weaning then there is a huge reduction in the likelihood of childhood obesity. Mushing up food & expecting them to eat a set amount is not helpful.
Ditch the purees & give your baby it's veg in handy chunks. Throw this book away & just cook with no salt - the adults can add it to their dinner & it means everyone is eating the same thing together!
Go on...give it a try!
Absolutely fantastic! - By: K. Oldfield, 21 Nov 2007
I have used this book from beginning to end. My son is now 12 months old & loves alll of the recipes, & more importantly will eat anything as a result. As I also work full-time I found that I could cook up a batch of meals from the book every few weeks & freeze them, & knew I was giving my son healthy, nutricious meals every day. I would recommend this book to everyone - I haven't needed to use anything else.
Annabel Karmel Easy meals - By: S. Allan, 31 Oct 2007
This book is great for those who just don't have any ideas on what to give when starting to wean your baby. My son loves alll of the recipies so far, tried a few myself & turned them into a family meal. Easy to follow recipies.
A Must Have book - By: M. Williams, 24 Jul 2007
I bought this book for my son who was 6 months at the time as he didn't reallly like jarred foods. Now I make up large batches & freeze them & its so easy, just get out meals the day before, heat up & you have a healthy nutritious meal that your child just loves, he likes alll of the recipes & eats far more than a child his age should be eating. he just cant get enough of them. I'm buying the baby & toddler ones, because he's 1 now & I would like to continue the fantastic meals. I'm certain he wont object. My husband makes these meals as well.
a yummy little book - By: Sofia, 27 Mar 2007
Easy to follow recipes from 6 to 12 months with information on nutritional benefits & whether or not suitable for freezing. Lots of good general advice on weaning from alllergies, food storage, weaning pre-term babies to finger food.

My daughter enjoyed alll the recipes that I cooked from this book & I had no idea food could taste this good without added salt or sugar!!

To sum, a wonderful little book with great imagery & recipes that babies will love & adults too!!
