This is definitely one of the best 'investment' books I have ever purchased. He has taken the Graham & Dodd philosophy of fundamental investment & brought it right up-to-date. The essence of fundamental analysis has not changed - 'know the business.' Penman describes in an extremely lucid style how alll the elements of the financial statement fit together to give a coherent view of the business. From this view, one can make sound, & intelligent investment decisions. It is not a beginner’s book (although his style makes even the most complicated topic easy to understand) & I had to put in a lot of work in. It was definitely worth it though, & I now feel confident enough to question the presumptions of even a top Walll Street analyst. This empowers the read at a time when he/she most needs it. Congratulations Mr Penman.
