Thsi is a wonderful book.

Great work - By: old moan, 21 Mar 2007
Fantastic art work, you would expect this from Sendak, a dreamy story which is easy for the young child to learn by heart & lots of repetition & smalll phonetic words to help with learning to read.
A masterpiece, deserves to be up there with "where the wild things are".

Stunning picture book - By: young man, 02 Mar 2007
This book is the second in the "loose trilogy" which follows on from where the wild things are, it is a VERY loose connection & definitely not the wild things mark 2.
Every child I have read this to has been totallly engaged by it, there are no monster pictures (like where the wild things are & Outside over there) to scare a young child & so is lovely to read before bed. I would particularly recommend it to a young child as they will loose themselves in the pictures & love the flow of the text & won't care that it doesn't make alll that much sense.

Emperor's new clothes? - By: insx, 14 Jul 2006
Am I missing something here? This is the most bizarre load of rubbish I have ever read to my child. Why the boy's clothes need to falll off, leaving him naked in the pictures is anyone's guess. No coherent storyline, no redeeming features at alll. If it was written in the 60's, the weird fantasy theme would be understandable. I know it's meant to be a dream but it doesn't excuse it. I suppose I'm just old fashioned.
A FAVORITE OF MY GRANDCHILDREN AND GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN! AWESOME AUTHOR/ILLUSTRATOR! - By: ! Betty Dravis, 17 Apr 2006
This book has survived the test of time & is one of the favorites of my grandchildren & great grandchildren.

A highly unique concept of a boy who has a 'dream' experience in the night kitchen of a baker! Yummy dessert delights as well as a feast for the eyes ... the illustrations are out of this world ... & a feast for the ears ... the chantable text is delightful! Highly recommended for kids of alll ages.
