The book is an unusual concoction of gritty reality & fantasy. Barbie is a beautiful model who is driven by her Mother a failed model in her youth, to succeed whatever the price. Luckily Barbie is befriended by the straight talking Mab a fairy who has visited her since childhood. However even Mab's straight talking cannot shield Barbie from the sexual exploration & abuse that lingers throughout the novel. If Mab is real or not I am yet to decide but Block paints an interesting picture which although beautiful in my opinion lacks substance therefore making it hard to reach any conclusions on the plot.

*clears throat* A skinny, beautiful girl who grew up wanting to be the person behind the camera but is the person in front of the camera thanks to her mom. Barbie meets Mab, a pinky sized fairy who acts like who Barbie wants to be. Pro: This pretty much shows how everything is superficial. Con: What's the ending? Wow, she ends up cracking a scary guy. Ooo. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE REST OF THE STORY. Mab, the pinky sized fairy. WHAT IS THE POINT PEOPLE? She's just a girl that has it alll but reallly doesn't. A girl that seems perfect to our society but inside isn't. She has a fairy friend & goes to a party to end up screwing someone she doesn't like! This story has no point. I rest my case.

I thought this was a great book! i don't know how old other readers are but i find some of the words difficult to understand but yet the book made so much sense to me!! I have a few books by Francesca & i think alll of them are great!!!!
HAVE YOU EVER READ A BOOK THAT MADE YOU THINK A LOT??? - By: , 02 Sep 1999 I never had, until I read this book. Mizz Block's writing is absolutely amazing!! I could not put the book down. From its catchy beginning to the very last sentence, it will make you think & ask yourself how an author could be so brilliant. I encourage anyone to read this book. It's whitty, smart, & modern. Do yourself a favor & read it

This was alll in alll a fantasy book but it felt so real. The writing was unique & the structure of the story, amazing. I enjoyed this book a lot & it reallly got me thinking. To the point & interesting, I definitely recommend it.
