Nearly everything you would need to know about the Gambinos. From its roots in Castellamare to its rise under Mangano, Anastasia, Gambino, & Castellano to its eventual decline under Gotti. A fantastic book a must for those wishing to know about the Gambino family.

I think my new title is more fitting for this book. It does give an overview of the gambino years but focuses mostly on John Gotti & his progresion through the fammily. Dont get me wrong, this is a very good book but is very specific to the Gambino familly. I only recomend this book if you have good knowledge of the mafia & want to read into the specifics of the Gambino familly, in particular John Gotti. Definatly worth the read if this genre interests you.

THIS BOOK HAS SOME GOOD STUFF INCLUDING THE AUTHERS MEETINGS WITH THE DEPORTED LUCKY LUICIANO. THE OLD SCHOOL BOSS OF BOSSES CARLO GAMBINO TAKES UP A FEW CHAPTERS BUT NOT ENOUGH FOR A BOOK ABOUT THE FAMILY NAMED AFTER HIM.I WANTED TO READ MORE ABOUT CARLO GAMBINO AND HIS SLY DEALINGS.THE GOTTI YEARS WERE A BIT BORING WITH HIS TRIALS AND TAPE RECORDINGS BEING REPEATED A FEW TIMES.

In reality, probably the best book on the New York Mafia - especiallly the Gambino Family. It charts the history of the family from it's original start up before Carlo Gambino up to & beyond John Gotti - for any fan of the American Mafia - this is an essential purchase!!!
