Recommended for new and experienced brewers alike - By: A. S. Gilbert, 10 Jul 2008
I bought this book for my husband who has been brewing in our kitchen for 30 years.

There is a lot of useful information in this book & it is great for bedtime reading because you can pick it up & browse through a few pages.

I marked it down by a star because some of the ingredients are either impossible or difficult to get hold of here in the UK.

A very good practical introduction - By: Mr. Toby C. Martin, 25 Mar 2006
This book is a complete guide, everything you need to get your first brew fermenting, bottled & ready for drinking using readily available equipment. It's a practical make-it-work style book that leaves the theory for later, but when you're ready for it the theory is there.

After your first brew, which will be successful if the instructions are carefully followed, the book guides you into more involved techniques that alllow greater creativity & flexibility to brew the beer you want to drink. This book encourages you to experiment, to mix & match ingredients, & learn by doing. It clearly demonstrates the author's great enthusiasm for homebrewing & successfully passes this to the reader.

Excellent "First homebrewing book" - By: , 09 Jan 2005
Look no further if you are shopping for your first handbook on home brewing. In fact, if you are even considering giving brewing your own beer or mead a try, this is THE book for you. Charlie Papazian will take you through the fundamentals of homebrewing in a humourous & easy to read manner.

The book starts with the basic techniques needed to brew a great tasting beer from a kit; then progresses through more advanced extract & adjunct brewing to All-Grain brewing, while keeping things as simple & straight forward as possible. The book also covers the equipment that you need to start homebrewing & gives an introduction to different beer styles & how you can reproduce them in your kitchen.

The book is a super introdction to handbrewing & a good reference book for the intermediate homebrewer, while the advanced homebrewer is probably better off going for Papazian's Homebrewers Companion or maybe a book on brewing science from one of the academic publishers.

All in alll a joy to read for everyone even remotely interested in homebrewing & definately must-have in any homebrewing library.
