Excellent little guide book - By: Budge Burgess, 19 Dec 2004
One of the excellent Collins range of books on the flora & fauna of the British Isles (see also Valerie Thom's "Scottish Birds"), this identifies over 350 wild flowers found in Scotland. The author groups these into four distinctive habitats, recognising, however, that there can be some overspill. It's a well-illustrated little tome, convenient for the pocket or rucksack, listing places to visit & explore, & even offering you the Gaelic name for each of the specimens.
Scotland is a wonderful country for walking - but Scott's guide demonstrates that walking is an exercise for the mind as well as the body. Take time to look around, to admire the plantlife. It's a life-affirming activity. Excellent little book.
