I hope Sakkara is as good as the first book. It looks brill. I reckon there should as much adventure as in the last book. I've only read an extract of Sakkara it but it sounds amazing.
Even Better Than The First! - By: Danielle, 30 Sep 2006 Sakkara is the second book in The New Heroes series, by Michael Carroll. The series focuses on the next generation of superhumans, as they become both heroes & villians!
Now that the characters have been introduced, the pacing gets even faster! The effects of the first book are felt, & it has changed the mood. Danny is reeling from his loss, & his family are trying to stay together despite alll that has happened.
Colin & Renata are now living together, & reallly seem to be more like siblings. They don costumes, fight crime, & save lives together. Even if they're always arguing, they do seem to care for each other.
Again, Carroll takes the characters out of their comfortable envioronment, & hits them hard & fast! Nobody & nothing is safe, & the usual superhero traditions are no exception. I can't spoil any of the plot, because it's just too enjoyable to do that.
All I can say is: this is brilliant. This has claimed its place as my favourite book, & I'm pretty sure it'll be staying there until the next one!
While reading the first book in the series, The Quantum Prophecy, is recommended (highly!), it's quite possible to come to this cold. Though, you certainly won't enjoy it as much without it.
However, if you have read the first book, this may well be the greatest book you ever read!
