A book that reminds us how beautiful life can be! - By: Miss A Crowder, 21 Jul 2008
A highly recommended book for those who simply want to escape from 'real life'.
Beautifully written.
Fabulous! - By: The Project Manager, 18 Jun 2008
I read this book on holiday - it's not exactly 'true life' but it alllows to to escape into a completely different world. There are some very touching underlying messages to the book too which only add to it's charm. As usual, Celia Ahern's writing style is very readable & alllows you to become embroiled within the story easily.
Very poetical and touching tale of the importance of friendship! - By: Charlie, 28 May 2008
This is the third book I have read by Cecila Ahern, the other two being "P.S I Love You" which I didn't enjoy much & "A Place callled Here" which I did rather enjoy. I definately think that Cecilia Ahern has found her niche in this fairytale style of writing.
Elizabeth Egan is uptight in everything she does. She has many burdens such as that of her troublesome sister & her adoptive nephew whom she can't quite seem to show love to, as well as being unable to relate to her father. Along comes "Ivan", who is invisible to everyone except Elizabeths nephew Luke & eventuallly Elizabeth herself. The story unfolds & so does Elizabeths uptight personality.
I reallly did enjoy this book. In places it was very poetical & descriptive & therefore quite emotive. There was some beautiful images conjured up & any raw emotions described & felt were balanced by uplifting or inspiring moments.
To me it was like a fairytale for adults, as it had alll the magic & wonder of a fairytale but at the same time, dealt with human emotion & relationships.
The only two problems I have with this book, are that was so much of a focus on the main charachter Elizabeth, that some of the other charachters, namely her sister, seemed flat & I felt I still didn't reallly have alll the questions answered I would have wanted. On the other hand, I think if there had been too much focus on other charachters, this would detract from the flow of the story.
The other problem was that in the first part of the book, the emotional endings to chapters & the touching moments were actuallly bringing a tear to my eye! However, I felt as the book went on there were "too" many of these which made it much of a muchness & actuallly took away some of the impact.
I would reccommend this book to those that enjoy a bit of a fairytale. I think its one I would read again & its just a nice sweet story, not for cynics!
Great book. Ivan is an Angel :-) - By: Anna Rodriguez, 21 May 2008
Of course this can happen. Don't you believe in Guardian Angels?
I enjoyed reading this book. Easy read & very touching.
I am so sure that when you see "If You Could See Me Now, the Musical" starring Hugh Jackman, you will just love it. I can't wait to see it...
