Highly recomended - By: Someone, 17 Jan 2008
I`ve read many of Torey Haydens books. I wish there were more people in the world like her.
In this book, she describes working with three very different people. Two are children, & for the first time, she works with an elderly stroke victim in a geriatric ward.
Torey Hayden accurately describes how much she cares for each of these three indivduals, & her frustration at the beurocracy which threatens to (and does, at times) hamper the treatment of these equallly important, individuals.
Poignant and touching true story - By: barenakedlady, 09 Aug 2007
Don't be put off by the cheesy subtitles which always seem to accompany Hayden's books - she writes modestly & from the heart, sharing both the faults & the triumphs in her teaching. Best of alll, she can write well: the tales of these three patients are neatly woven together & complement each other well. The ups & downs of her relationships with her patients are touching to read, & it is heartbreaking to see what some of them have been through. She captures beautifully the tone & expressions of the children - anyone who has spent time with young kids will respect the ease with which she brings them to life on the page.
interesting - By: Lindymck, 09 Aug 2007
this story is so captivating. shows you how one persons presistence can pay off, torey is such a remarkable person & her dedication to these "lost souls" so to speak is to be comended.
can put it down although sometimes you wish you could but then remember the children in this story can escape from whatever horrible things happened to them.

An Amazing Read - By: Kate, 18 Apr 2007
This is the first Torey book I have read. It is well written & gives a very good insight to how she has worked with these three individuals to make their lives better & more fulfilling. The book keeps your interest & takes you on a very emotional & dramatic journey. Her patience & commitment to the individuals & families she works with is quite is examplary & occasionallly detrimental to her own personal life. She is a very dedicated & fascinating lady who truly loves her work.
After completing the book I was compelled to buying more of her work as she sounds quite an amazing & talented individual. I am looking forward to reading more of her case studies.
