Very good book! - By: D. Woodley, 02 Jul 2008
I loved this book soooo much, the film was good but no way near as good as the book.
Atrocious! avoid at all costs - By: H. Leahy, 19 Jun 2008
I am at a loss to understand how this book has received the praise it has & such a huge advance for it's author. The basic idea of the book is a great one. The greatness ends there. The writing is absolutely abysmal. No money could convince me to re-read it.
Absolutely dreadful - By: Limberlost, 16 Jun 2008
I'm mystified as to why this badly written book became a best seller. The dull & plodding prose would appear to have been written by a twelve year old with absolutely no insight into grief & bereavement. Trite, boring & unbelievable characters inhabit a poorly plotted story. Exceptionallly bad.
Absolutley fantastic - By: Chicklits rule, 05 Jun 2008
I found this book while looking on amazon for some good "chicklit" books to take away to college with me, I read the reviews & it sounded like a good book so I bought it. The reviews do not give it enough credit, from the very begining it has a flood of emotions. I immediatly fell in love with the characters & could not put it down, As I had exams I was revising during the day & would go to bed early so I could read more. Every night I would read it & be in fits of laughter & also sadness at the characters struggle to come to terms with the death of her husband, but the husband helps her & guides her through the first 10 months of the start of her life without him. I am currently letting my mum borrow it so she can enjoy such a wonderful book. I would recommend this book to anyone who like a good Chicklit book.
I cannot wait to read some more of Cecelia Ahern books.
My favorite author - By: Sarah H., 31 May 2008
If you're a Ceclia Ahern fan, then you know what I'm about to say. If you're not one, wait. I'd start with another book of hers before this one & DON'T SEE THE MOVIE!!!!!! Try IF YOU COULD SEE ME NOW or even THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES before reading P.S. I LOVE YOU.
My reasons? This is still a good book, but it's not her best. And it's not like her other works at least in my mind. While I LOVE this author, I did find the writing style a bit repetitive & felt like she had "dumbed-down" some of the book. This opinion came after reading her other works first. So my recommendation is to start with something else & then go back to this if you want.
This was Ahern's first book & you can't fault her for not getting it just right, but it is still an okay novel.
