Lovely Book About Marriage and Relationships - By: Kelly A. fuller, 13 Jun 2003
Great Book! Isabell Wolff has done it again. I love every one of her other books & this one is no expection. Fantastic story about love, marriage, relationships, infedelity & family. Not as "laugh out loud" funny as her other books, but I enjoyed this one more. This book had more heart than humour, but it was not lacking in anyway! Well done, Ms Wolff!
Page turning holiday read - By: , 28 May 2002
This book stays on the same classic chick-lit territory that Minty Malone & Tiffany Trot inhabited. Faith is a woman with marital problems from which she is distracted by the implausibly handsome & charming Jos. There are a couple of minor sideplots involving her best friend, Lily, & the activities of her precocious children. It's a shame these weren't developed further, as the supporting characters are interesting enough to merit stories of their own. However, this is a minor quibble in a book that certainly absorbed me totallly for 24 hours!
It's very funny and hard to put down - By: , 27 May 2002
The writer has skillfully taken a storyline which is not uncommon, i.e. divorce, betrayal, friendship, but tells it as a hilarious but moving story with an unpredictable ending & twists throughout. It's a bit like a 'Bridget Jones Diary' but better.
surprised! - By: , 20 Aug 2001
Well, first off, I have to say that I reallly enjoy reading Isabel Wolff's books & look forward to many more to come. I loved Minty & Tiffany. I was so excited to get this book, I couldn't wait for it's release in the states, so I ordered from UK. I was a bit disappointed though. This definately was not as good as the others. I felt that Faith was not as strong as Minty or Tiffany, she lacked self-esteeem & it bothered me. I think, as a whole, I didn't reallly like any of the characters, especiallly, Faith's friend. She annoyed me, with her dog named Jennifer Aniston. This story lacked the humorous content the others had, either that or I was just so excited for it's release, that I disappointed myself. I hope to see another book soon though!
A Fabulous Summer Read!!! - By: samantha_kramer1@yahoo.co.uk, 18 Jul 2001
I loved this book & devoured it in a day & a half - despite being at work at the time! No mean feat I can tell you (hope my boss isn't reading this). Basicallly the book is a touching, & very funny portrait of a marriage which, though basicallly happy, has gone a little tired at the edges, combined with a real page-turning mystery involving Faith's best friend Lily, a glamorous magazine editor. What WAS Lily up to? (I guessed completely wrong) & what WAS Joss's secret? (ditto ditto). I thought Minty Malone was very funny & so is this: in particular, the stuff about Graham the dog & Faith's teenage daughter Katie, an amateur (but brilliant) psychiatrist - was hysterical. Lily is a wonderfully witty character - Faith putty in her hands, until she starts to wise up. Isabelle Wolff's plots are always unpredictable & I loved the clever twist at the end of this one. As with Minty I closed the last page with a huge soppy grin on my face & a sense of harmony restored. I can't wait to read the next novel by this insightful & very funny author.
