Amazing Sound - By: DAZ, 18 Mar 2010
I've always like Muse's music, right back in the days of Showbiz, but when I heard Undisclosed Desires on the radio I thought it was something special. The rest of the album doesn't disappoint either - there are some magical, spacey sounds here that picks up where the last album left off. The title song is particularly good. A masterpiece of modern rock music - highly recommended.
You can please some of the people some of the time... - By: mostly_harmless, 14 Mar 2010
Once upon a time there was a band callled Muse who made an album callled Showbiz, & people complained they sounded too much like Radiohead. 10 years & several evolutions later they made an album callled The Resistance, & people complained they sounded too much like Queen. Well, I guess if you're going to be compared to anyone, its good to be compared to the best. To me they sound an awful lot like Muse...and any similarities to those other two bands provides more of an explanation for why I like them, rather than any reasons to dismiss them.

So yes, buy this album. Or don't.
Its a grower, but BOY does it grow! - By: Mr. B. S. Tamlyn, 12 Mar 2010
Im a massive Muse fan. Huge in fact. I try & see them everytime they tour. You would think this would be quite boring to see teh same band over & over again but i demand to meet the person who thinks New Born live is boring & old hat. From Showbiz to The Resistance, every album (if we do out of 10) easily scores between 9 & 10, & in the case of Origin Of Symmetry 11. I have so much respect for the music Muse make, i bought the CD & not the download just so i can have the CD case pride of place in my CD collection. I have now decided only to reserve CD purchases for the truly great albums & not just the general release rubbish with 1 or 2 decent songs on the album.

Horror!!!!!!Disgust!!!!!!!!Disbelief!!!!!! This cant be!!!I have listened to the whole album & i cant stand it! Its awful. I feel let down. This is Queen 2010!

You cant blame me for saying these things as the first listen was horrendous on my ears & i was some what swayed but other reviews from NME & amazon. I put the CD in a draw for a week. How did Muse get it so wrong? In fact i got it wrong. I got it horrendously wrong & after saying these terrible things about Muse, I wondered would it ever forgive me? I was driving to work one morning & United States Of Eurasia came on the ipod at Random. That was back in January & so far i have listened to the album a good 100 times.

It is a total vear of route for Muse, synths, pop sounding at times, it is a bit queen influenced (especiallly United States of Eurasia) & i can personallly hear the eurythmics at times. All these combined makes for a worth while experience. The symphony (exogenesis) is basic in its composistion & very familiar sounding, but i love the way it swoops during the strings. The only song i had a major issue with was Guiding Light. The first lyric kept making me cringe & i just couldnt enjoy the song, which has never happened. it reminded me of Invincible from Black Holes & Revelations which only just survived due to its finale.

This is a very good record, it has some amazing guitar rifts & ludicrous pomposity. The Resistance & MK Ultra are my personal favourites, along with Undisclosed Desire A grower most certainly & possibly the most difficult Muse album to fully appreciate. But you will appreciate it, it simply takes a bit more of a listen. The best time to listen to it is when walking or driving. Totallly captivating
Not a complete on...but a return to form of sorts - By: Robert Hundley, 12 Mar 2010
Ive been a muse fan for a long time. Showbiz, while not a particulary appealing album to me, immediately showed off some of the highlights of the band, & when origin of Symmetry came out, i like so many others, was blown away. Every track grabbed you, puilled you of the edge, & plunged headon into chaos, & you just screamed with excitement. But this isnt an origin reviw...and theres plenty about already, so moving on, came Absolution. It wasnt the follow up to Origin we alll could have hoped for, but, lets be honest, not a band around at the moment could have had a follow up to that album that didnt sound lacklustre in comparison. But it had its tracks, so we let it slide.

Then Came Black Holes. I, like many other muse fans, & unlike many others, as always is when a band changes direction, was extremely dissapointed. The music was alll there, in places, but it just didnt catch, didnt pull, & certainly didnt dive into the chaos that made Origin what it was & still is...but this isnt a BHaR review either, & im sure theres plenty of those about, so we'll get to the point of the review

This Album....well, it's taken me a while to take the plunge on it. Although i was suitably impressed with (read "didnt hate with a passion") Uprising, United States, when i heard it, made me feel they were going in the same direction asd they were with Blacl Holes; That is, away from me. I was suitably unimpresssed enough to ignore the album on the assumption that it maybe just had the one good song in Uprising, as i felt Black Holes did with Starlight (again, read "didn't hate with a passion"). Then i heard Resistance. And i was hooked, it was the first track i'd heard in a long time that had a taste of chaos in that i so loved, & when i first heard it i wasn't entirely convinced it was Muse, as it wasn't "thier" direction any more. When i couldn't ignore it any more; I mean, hes a fairly distinct voice; i assumed it was from an older album, & resolved to find this unheard gem. Until, try as i might, i couldn't deny the fact that the song was both wonderful, & on The Resistance. And so i bought it. And in that, i suppose the point of my review is to say that if you liked Resistance, go for it, the album is far more forgiving than it first seems
Big fan! - By: J1NXY0, 12 Mar 2010
I've been a huge fan of Muse for years now & naturallly I couldn't wait for this album to come out. I pre-ordered it & it arrived reallly fast :). I was a bit worried that I wouldn't like this album as much as the previous ones (I found this with a lot of bands I've been into before)but when I got it I couldn't stop listening to it - they reallly made an effort to put lots of material on this album!
