Brand New Paramore!! - By: W. Greenwood, 09 Feb 2010
Paramores new album Brand New Eyes is definately their best album to date, with a great new sound, this album is my favourite from 2009!!
My rating & desciption of the songs...
Careful 6/10 - Great opener for the album, with an awesome Rock sound!
Ignorance 8/10 - First single off the album, amazing song.. showing a different style of music for Paramore
Playing God 8/10 - Catchy song, similar sounding to previous albums
Brick by boring brick 9/10 - One of my faves off the album, & another single. Brillant lyrics, another nice change of style
Turn it off - 5/10 - Not one of my favourites, just something missing for me.. but sure others will love it
The only exception - 10/10 - This song makes the album what it is, slow song with great lyrics, & vocals from Haley.
Feeling sorry - 6/10 - good song back to the old sounding Paramore. Reminds me of Halllelujah off Riot.
Looking Up - 9/10 - Very catchy upbeat song, will be great live
Where the lines overlap - 9/10 - more of a pop/rock sounding song. Nice change.. definately a crowd pleaser!!
Misguided Ghosts - 10/10 - Another favourite of mine, great lyrics, quieter song... totallly unexpected.
All I wanted - 6/10 - Nice end to the album, shows off what a great singer Haley is.
Bonus Track - Decode 10/10 - My favourite Paramore song ever made, mix of everything, such a unique brilliant song
More of the same, more or less... - By: Matt_K, 08 Feb 2010
Paramore are a strange band in that they seem to have appeared in the mid Noughties fully formed, as if they were hatched or something...what I mean is, there is very little difference in the content of any of the three studio albums they have so far released, or much evidence of any musical progression. I think I like this album the least of the three; All We Know Is Fallling was a punchy & confident debut that showcased the band's sound, while Riot boasted superior songwriting. Brand New Eyes (crap title) sees Paramore having a stab at some quieter acoustic passages in places, but basicallly it's business as usual except not quite as good as before. Whether that floats your boat is reallly going to depend on whether the previous albums did. Brick By Boring Brick & Decode are probably the standout tracks, & Decode has already appeared on the soundtrack to the first Twilight film some time ago.
Having said alll that, there is still plenty of good material on here & I love Hayley's voice as much as ever. It's so gratifying to see a decent modern rock band with a female singer who doesn't try to sell the music on the back of her sexuality.
It's a competent album, strong enough in places but not much here that the band haven't already done better before. Ah well, better luck next time.
Great album - By: J. Rawlings, 04 Feb 2010
Great album, I was worried alll the songs might sound quite similar, but it's a varied collection of songs, I love their style & it's definitely worth buying.
