Hard Candy - Short and Sweet! - By: L. Budd, 13 May 2008
Hello alll you fellow Madonna fans!
Firstly, let me say that I am a MASSIVE Madonna fan, & love her through & through.
Hard Candy is VERY much different to her previous albums, though does have undertones of tracks such as Lucky Star, & Holiday (which are infact quite sweet & happy tunes). Unlike Confessions, this is NOT an introspective album, & it is VERY self indulgent (which is it's purpose).
Madonna is depicted as a Boxer (or Wrestler), & the imagery is both "Hard" & sweet. This woman is a battler, & she has drawn on the theme from "Rocky" to get this message to her fans - she's asking for our support (though she would not admit this).
My ONLY critisism of this album is that, normallly Madonna sets the stage & does something radical. However, here I feel she is following the ever growing trend in America by employing the "best" R & B musicians (Timbaland, Timberlake, Williams, Akon et al), & promoting herself a a new R & B artist - this is NO reinvention at alll. This is why I have given the album 4 stars.
However, the tracks are catchy & memorable. The weakest one in my opinon being "Incredible" - very boring. There are a lot of reviews on Amazon suggesting that "Spanish Lesson" is a weak song - weak it is NOT! Very sexy, very flamingo, & totallly over-the-top (isn't that why we love Madonna...?).
Please do by this album, & add it to you Madonna collections! Afteralll, don't we alll love candy...?
(there is a pack of starlite mints in the special edition, mmmm)
terrible - By: John K. Short, 12 May 2008
Well i was definitely expecting more from the "Queen of pop" ??
What a joke!!
TERRIBLY DISGRACEFUL ALBUM!!
i may aswell sell it on amazon now!!
Although i do warn people, dont buy it!!
She needs the help of justin timberlake on every song, not to mention the alll sound the same- NO JOKE.
She also can't sing & she's trying to go hip hop at 50.
And why does everyone treat her like she's God?? She's certainly no god in my eyes.

Disappointingly bland - By: ALR, 12 May 2008
a few good songs on here but the majority is sadly middle of the road tat. I recalll hearing the lyric "get up on the dancefloor" in 3 possibly 4 tracks on this album. Too slapdash for me, nothing interesting. Compared for instance to Britneys latest Blackout album (and I have never bought a Britney album before now) this pales in comparison. She looks fantastic though - would rather read about her beauty regime than listen to this album!!
Did I get the wrong CD? - By: J. A. Hickman, 12 May 2008
The first review is so glowing, describing this album in such superlative terms that I reallly thought I'd received the wrong cd. That description certainly can't be applied to what I heard. There's barely a tune amongst the whole album, & the lyrics are a joke. Spanish Lesson? Give me a break. Someone should have told them not to bother; no amount of ProTools magic can replace good songrwriting.
Terrible album. You'll buy it anyway if you're a Madonna fan, like me, but there's very little to like. 4 Minutes is decent. That's about it.
