it is so refreshing to finallly have an album that simply is what it is. This is not trying to copy (thank god) alll of this indy & emo crap that has contaminated the music industry for to long. This is a brilliant album with lots of twists & turns which alllow you to listen to the songs over & over without getting bored. I am a lover of music & it feels so good to finallly have a recently released album that is amazing. It kind of sounds like bowie meets daft punk for some songs & others i simply cant describe. Buy this album!!! anyone who gave it under 4 stars is simply insane. Also two other album i was very impressed by are The Last Shadow Puppets - Age Of The Understatement & Mystery Jets - Twenty One. Theyre alll fab & well worth investigating.

bowie + electro-funk + psychedelia + synth hooks to die for = oracular spectacular - By: S. Dhaidan, 07 May 2008 I'm actuallly surprised by the 2 bad reviews this album has received because I've listened to the 'Time To Pretend' ep & Oracular Spectacular & have falllen in love with both. I originallly avoided listening to MGMT because I believed they were most probably undeservingly over-hyped & a bit 'cooler-than-thou' for my liking. However, I'm sorry I procrastinated because now I literallly can't get enough of their beautiful, psychedelic, Bowie-esque, electric gorgeousness. Oracular Spectacular is one of the best albums I've heard in ages & I'd urge anyone to give it a try.
THIS YEARS BEST ALBUM - By: M. E. Parry, 05 May 2008 A great band is born, this album is full to the brim with good tracks the best being "Of moons birds & monsters" " The youth" & "pieces of what". It is an eclectic mix of many different genres which are alll used to optimum effect & acheive a fantastic psychedellic genius result.

If you were hoping for an album that was of a similar ilk to Time to Pretend, you were probably, as I was, bitterly disappointed. Oracular Spectacular is seriously lacking dynamicallly, boring, even. I would've given the album a single star, but for the fact that Time to Pretend is brilliant, with its expanse of distorted bass & that brilliant chord-change in the bridge that makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.
My advice is to buy the single, unless you enjoy being underwhelmed.
Get a grip we are letting it slip - By: paul, 23 Apr 2008 I purchased this album off the back of the reviews on this site. I have got to say it is a very very average album at best. First two tracks are good but it goes down hill quickly after a good opening two tracks. I have never felt the need to write a review before but I felt that let down with this album I felt the need to say, that artists get an easy ride when being reviewed by some of the users of this site. If you like rubbish like the scissor sisters & throw away pop music that you will not listen to again after maybe six months please purchase this album.
