Good to hear some melody.... - By: Neil, 19 May 2008
Bought this on the strength of the Just for Tonight single...one of the few current tracks with a strong melody at the moment. It's so nice to hear a band who can right proper melodic & well-structured songs & deliver them with some passion without sounding as if they are about to have a nervous breakdown/anxiety attack.

My personal favourite is Time but most of the tracks have something going for them...the production by Steve Lillywhite contributes to the overalll anthemic feel...there are also a few whimsical retro moments which, suprisingly work well in this context.

I'm told the singer is only 17 so there should be more to come - for a first album this is very impressive.

Definitely worth buying...

Way Beyond Expectations - By: James M, 14 May 2008
I brought this album on the back of the single 'just for tonight' & because a friend told me it was good. To tell the truth i wasn't expecting much more than one or two good tracks, i was pleasently surprised. After listening to the album just once i preaty much enjoyed every song, each one have it own. If you liked the single, this albm is a must as there is only better to come.
Great musical talent - By: E. Fourie, 13 Apr 2008
I bought this album on the strength of 'just for tonight' & have not been disappointed. The musical intros to every song is first class & shows that this band is technicallly very strong & have much potential to grow & grow. For me they hit the perfect balance of uplifting tunes, good vocals & great technical skill by the band. Looking forward to seeing them live shortly.
They're from Yorkshire, you know. - By: A. Miller, 26 Feb 2008
If you like the kooks you'll like this. If the Kooks get up your nose then this will get up your nose. Which is not to say that they are ripping off the Kooks; they just plough the same energetic catchy pop furrow. And what the heck is wrong with that? Tunes, lots of them; you can't say fairer than that. Your mates won't be impressed, if that's what your musical taste is governed by, but there is much here to justify the interest. Nothing beats the awesome Just for Tonight, however. And sadly, this version doesn't sound as good as the live 'unplugged' version I heard on the radio.

Just one more smalll quibble: the drums are way too busy, clattery & too high in the mix. But that doesn't make it a bad album, no indeed.
a VERY generous 2 stars - By: Irvine Brandy, 23 Feb 2008
mediocrity at its best. If this did not have the anthemic "just for tonight" it could certainly be main contender for worst album of 2008.
If you happen to like bland un-memorable music that doesnt make you want to dance or get stuck in your head, go for it.
On the plus side - Just for tonight is an absolute royal Tune, & you wont have to skip to get to it, as it is the 1st track. Sadly, you'll have to leap to stop the rest playing to avoid tarnishing such a great song (which NONE of the others are like - I was hoping to find these guys following in the wake of the Killers, by giving us the album they should have, instead of "Sams Rubbish" - but it's like a collection of bland kooks - which I find the kooks do well on their own)
My advice - get the single or download Just for tonight, & avoid this!
