Cry, Jump and Smile with the best reissue of this year!!! - By: David Calcano, 06 Jul 2008
I have to say I never thought Dennis could do a record like this one... yes I know I'm an idiot. But seriously, I am overblown by the feeling of these songs (Farewell my Friend, Time, End of Show), every song has the right element of surrounding sounds but never disturbing the greatness of the melodies & the amazing piano tracks.
Unbelievably he included funky songs (pacific ocean blue) in this album & they alll fit together like a miracle or whatever you want to calll it.
He blends the classic beach boys sound on a subtle way, with the Beatles creating an atmosphere making it very personal to listen to.

The tracks have aged marvelously, man I'm so psyched about this album! How stupid I was not to have it years ago!! This is truly one of the best albums I have heard from a solo Beach Boy & yes, I am a huge Brian fan!

From nostalgic sad & dark songs, happy love songs, to funky tunes this album has everything.
Don't be another stupid & buy this album for a personal experience with melody.

Let the music play!
PS: The unreleased material is also unbelievable & I'm only reviewing disc1!!
PS2: The packaging is UNBELIEVABLE !!! Don't dare to buy another version of the record.
Yes it is ... - By: David Sandilands, 06 Jul 2008
as good as you hoped it would be & beautifully packaged too.
I also reallly like Bambu, the unreleased, supposedly unfinished, album & the bonus tracks as well.

Hidden Gem Then Still Wows Now - By: Brian Newbould, 04 Jul 2008
A truly great hidden gem. Packed full of feeling & funk. Being an ardent BB fan I bought the original vinyl as an early 20-something & was blown away alll those years ago. It seems I've been waiting forever (no pun intended) for it to be re-released & finallly it has arrived alll 'cleaned up' complete with his second unreleased album 'Bambu' & bonus tracks too. I am in heaven! Seriously, as our American cousins would alll too often remark this IS a genuinely 'seminal'/'awesome' work beautifully re-packaged & presented that even a cynical 'oldie but moldy' like me reared on gatefolds & free posters et al was suitably impressed, & alll at a bargain price. Ignore the 1*, (as they say you always get one!)at the very least it is 4*, just buy, listen & enjoy then make your own mind up.
I will never tire of it.......................... - By: Mr. I. Pippin, 03 Jul 2008
Pacific Ocean Blue is without doubt the most honest, powerful & most staggeringly beautiful album I have ever had the pleasure to hear. I challlege anyone not to be moved to tears by Dennys voice on "thoughts of you" or indeed filled with hope & joy in the middle eight section of "The River". He was every bit the composer Brian is & could easily hold his own next to the angelic voice of his late brother Carl.

If Denny had still been alive today I'm sure he would have been moved himself to see that the tunes & words he gave life to alll those years ago are finallly getting the recognition they deserve.

Denny Forever............................................
I was surprised by the quality of it... probably not for everybody. - By: Alejo, 01 Jul 2008
I assured myself I will not indulge in writing music reviews anymore.
Perhaps because been born in the early fifties I was treated to probably what was the best period of pop & rock music as the soundtrack of my life... so I guess I am much prejudiced against today standards (very much lower in my humble opinion...).
Surfing through amazon I was once intrigued by reviews (and also outrageous prices of the second hand market... glad I passed... & waited for this) about this album.
In one word AMAZING.
I always thought he was much underrated... but now this is the understatement of the year... listen to it before buying (NO BEACH BOYS SOUND AT ALL IT IS DIFFERENT AND VERY GOOD)... but I fell in love with it with only ONE listening session. What great keyboards too!
So, here you have it IT WAS WORTH MY TIME AND MONEY.

GOOD FOR HIM!... (somehow drummer's always surprise me...)
