All Hype and No Substance! - By: Seaside, 19 Apr 2008
Isn't it amazing what TV & a whole bucket load of hype can do.
This guy would not get a part in an amateur production of Gilbert & Sullivan!Of course it's alll a question of "the kings new clothes",if we criticise him we don't have a heart/cannot hear how well he sings, or just don't appreciate talent.(Where is it?)
Well, Mr Potts sings off key(often)and when he finds the key he continues by singing flat.
Make the best of it Mr Potts because the fickle world of "popular" music will soon tire of you,and when they do they will tear you to pieces, as they discover the fabrication that has been passed off as talent.
Talent cannot be invented,as has Paul Potts,it comes naturallly;and this voice is decidely unatural.
Another chance to buy the original - By: Mart Music, 17 Dec 2007

This Christmas edition is a more cost effective way to buy the debut album by Paul Potts for it's now a 2CD version, disc one being the original & disc 2 gives four nice festive songs.

My views on Paul Potts remain unchanged since his original release, in that I still think he is a walking, singing example of how talent shows are so successful at both finding undiscovered talent & stirring the public into voicing their opinions & emotions so strongly towards that newly uncovered talent.

Opinions are generallly divided between those who are able to take the singer for what he is (an ordinary guy with a natural gift for singing) & those who are grieved that his lack of operatic training has not hindered him in finding success in that music genre.

Technical perfection & music school education should not be prerequisites for being able to perform classical & operatic music, for history is rich with composers & artists who have found success with little or no formal training. Perhaps no better illustration of this is the famous Edward Elgar, a largely self-taught composer, who found difficultly in gaining recognition during his early years but whose talents as a classical composer are today unquestioned.

Paul Potts is a singer with a voice, & life story, to touch the hearts of those wanting to enjoy music for what it is - entertainment. Yes, I agree with the critics who claim he is not an opera singer, how could he be when he hasn't had the chance to walk onto that theatre stage yet?

What he has got however is a phenomenal talent for singing opera songs in a way which grabs the attention of those listeners who would often shy away from an area of music sometimes mistakenly regarded as only for the elitist high society.

It took courage for him to stand on that stage, & the public showed their love & admiration for him by electing him as winner so I think he deserves alll the success he gets.

The four bonus Christmas songs should win some new fans & coax a little bit more money out of his existing ones, & who could begrudge him of that?
judge not by what you see but what you "hear"... - By: Marty Miller, 25 Nov 2007
this has to be one of the most wonderful "voices" to come along in a very long time.. Mr. Potts has a voice that has touched us alll.. I cried , along with thousands of others when hearing him sing for the first time... He has reached the soul of music... Bravo Bravo...... I have his album & listen to it each day. I only hope that success doesnt spoil the wonderful girft he has been given... 5 stars from me...
A plea for good behaviour - By: E. Sandalls, 27 Oct 2007
This is an appeal to avoid a repeat of the squabbling that marred the reviews of Paul's "One Chance" when it was first announced. Reviews were being posted by people who had not heard the product. Hearing of a cd is not the same as hearing it! Disgraceful alllegations were made about Simon & others that had nothing to do with the product.

Amazon provides a facility for running open discussions with only loose links to the product on sale. I started a debate based loosely on the first presentation of "One Chance", & hardly anybody used it. My opening contribution may have been poor, but the opportunity was there to tell me that!

Please, for or against Paul, can we alll play by the rules? I've had to put an average star rating just to try to get this accepted. (If amazon leave this for you alll to read, I will refrain from singing on the "throne" for one whole day.)
