Change of direction, but another solid Mayall album - By: J. HOLMES, 08 Oct 2008
This is the original release, plus 4 tracks that are available elsewhere.
The album was a change of direction for Mayalll, to a more jazz-based sound in many areas. However, there is plenty for the blues fan to enjoy as well, particularly in the playing of Mick Taylor, who plays with a maturity well beyond his years (he was 19 when it was recorded!). Every member of the band is a seasoned pro, & that much is obvious by listening to alll their contributions. The Bare Wires Suite, although slightly self-indulgent in places, generallly works well, & the remainder of the album contains some very strong songs, alll written by Mayalll himself.
This is another must-have album for alll fans of British blues-based music at it's best.
Bare Wires : well worth adding to your collection - By: I. G. Dalley, 28 Jun 2008
John Mayalll's bluesy & sometimes jazzy album contains a great variety of quality music. Plus, Mick Taylor is at his best.
I've been playing this album since it first came out...back in 1968, & I still think it's a great listen.
This is a MUST for any John Mayalll fan.
