Come on Axel get off your arse and release the damn album! ! - By: MrMetalheadO'Hagan, 29 Sep 2008
This is seriously f**ked about the release issue or whatever. I have heard quite a few songs of this album, though they are a very different style to old Guns N' Roses (AKA Appetite For Destruction) some are reallly good. Apparently now it's going to be four albums which would be cool but i doubt we're ever gonna hear a new Guns N' Roses album again. Trust me there are very good songs liek Chinese Democracy, If The World Would End Today, IRS, Better & This I Love. But i'd say the only way to get good feedback from axel's fans is if he rejoined with Slash & crew, but that's what we alll want.

If this album ever comes out if you are a guns n' roses fan be very open minded about the album(s) because they are excellent (but very different style). Please axel release this album before it was 29th of september now it's 3rd of november what's going on with you? as another reviewer said that aint very Rock N Roll.
"Don't Damn me" (when I speak a piece of mind...) - By: Mr. C. J. Balmer, 19 Sep 2008
I've been waiting to hear this album for a good 8 years at least. I remember sitting down with great anticipation to hear "Ohy My God" which was on the "End of Days" soundtrack. Then nothing... A tour of the UK was announced which I bought tickets for. The concert was cancelled & resheduled. This resheduled concert was then in turn cancelled & resheduled. I lost interest at this point.

Then a miracle, it was announced that the album was going to be released - yeah, & pigs might fly! I am sick to death of the numerous release dates which come & go, new release dates are then resheduled...and then guess what? they come & go. Why am I still interested??!
Plenty of bands have released albums this year (Metalllica, Motley Crue, DragonForce, Alice Cooper) to name but a few. They just seem to be able to put their collective heads together & get on with making a new album. Why is this such a problem for Axl et. al? Alright, an album might exist already, but what's the problem with setting a release date & sticking to it?! Yes, we know that the expection for a new album is immense, & with more passing time the expection becomes even more great, but please Axl, GET ON WITH IT!

The way things are going it'll be another few years until Chinese Democracy sees release. Yeah, right! Let's face it, this album is an urban myth. I would personallly like to hear it, even it's not that great; to see what alll the fuss / wait was about. It might turn out to be more "...Illusion 1" rather than "Appetite for Destruction", but any album is better than no album. Yes, we alll know that alll the original members of Guns have moved on (or rather been moved on)but curiosity & impatience is killing me. For the sake of the long term fans Axl, just release the bloody thing & move on!
A few facts to think about when reading these reviews! - By: BomBom, 17 Sep 2008
In reply to Lukestaceys "review", he clearly isn't in possession of alll the facts. Lets establish some first shalll we?

Am I a Guns fan? Indeed. Am I Biased towards GNR & their music? More than likely, yes. Therefore any review I offer will be taken with a pinch of salt due to these admissions. Mr Stacey's comments are that he is a GNR fan & then proceeds to decry the Group for the postponement & pushing back of the release dates of this album. Firstly, the only date EVER given by "official" sources, was in an open letter from Axl Rose to fans in November 2006 stating that the date of March 6th was "tentatively" being suggested. Since then, there has been no reasons or explanations given as to why this date was not met but that is the only time a date has ever been close to being officiallly set. So...the album has indeed been off & on for over 10-12 years but it has never been pushed back by the artist. In fact, it was only handed over to UMG in late 07, early 08 as complete!

Next point made that the record does not include any of the original GNR members but instead contains "session musicians". Indeed. Whilst I concede that it it extremely unlikely for Slash, Duff, Steven or Matt to be anywhere on this album as they left in the mid nineties to pursue other avenues, I would like to know however how he considers it fact that Izzy Stradlin is definitely NOT on the album, considering that he played with GNR on their World Tour in 2006 & 7, again guesswork. As for the session musicians, I feel I must point out that at this time, Tommy Stinson (Bass), Richard Fortus (Rhythm Guitar) Robin Finck (Lead Guitar) (I appreciate that his status as a full time member at present is debatable) & Chris Pitman (Keyboards & Effects) have actuallly been with Guns N Roses & Axl LONGER than the original line up were together. Not to mention that Dizzy Reed is still with the band.

Thirdly, yes, very little is known about the album & its contents, yet you choose to speculate as to what will be on it when it is released!!! None of the songs played live have been decried as filler whatsoever, there has been a comment or 2 regarding these songs & that there are better (no pun intended) songs still under lock & key but to suggest that the songs already played are filler is ridiculous, it smacks of someone who has not actuallly listened to these songs! Also your comment regarding the songs played live is very misleading as whilst most of those songs were played during the world tour, Silkworms & Catcher in the Rye were not. In fact, silkworms has not been played since 01-02 & Catcher in the Rye has NEVER been played, be it live or otherwise. A very poor demo from 1999 has been leaked but that is it!

Finallly, yes these songs are progressive rock, they are not what your typical GNR fan would consider Guns N Roses but then they have moved on from the sleazy rock of Appetite & the UYI albums as the industry has evolved therefore so has GNR. Axl has simply moved with the times. There will be songs on the album that people will not like, Shacklers Revenge, for example is very industrial & at first listen isnt even remotely Guns N Roses sounding but it is a very very good song, given the chance.

Sort your facts before you decide to attempt to review an unreleased item of work by a band you claim to like as you seem like a bitter GNR fan trapped in the early 90's wanting his Slash & Duff back!

For the people wanting a review of this product...will it be worth the wait of 15 years? probably not. Will it be a kick a$$ album with great songs, you bet it will!
Due to release August 25th??? Now it's 29 Sep ... Wheres the Rock N' Roll spirit ?? Ahh ya got lost when the other guys left ... - By: S. Jacobs, 25 Aug 2008
Ok so Guns n' Roses last release was in 93, so fans have been waiting 14 years for The Aledged Chinese Democracy ... I dont find that very Rock N' Roll.

Im not sure weither ill buy the CD when it cames out ... 1. I may be dead by then & 2. Theres only one Original Memeber in this new take on Guns N' Roses, so for me its not Guns N' Roses anymore ... Its more like "Guys N' Rose".

Im 17 now ... I was 3 ... now 14 years later ... Still nothing ...

If Axl Rose persists on keeping the GNR name then the least he could do would be to carry on the rock n' roll way ...

And to be honest hes reallly dragged the name through the dirt ...

So bassicallly im reviewing Axl Rose here ... So, he destroyed the best Rock N' Roll band along with its name ... I wish i could rate a 0/5 stars. He needs to get a grip.
Lyric Lead Music - By: M. Walsh, 02 Jul 2008
I have heard the new stuff...apart from the electronic starts to some songs, its lyric lead music at its best.I reallly didn't think I'd say that,as was a big fan of the original band, but, lyrics make a song & you can't keep a good man down & Axl Rose has been busy!It took a while,on repeat alll day long!...but,the songs grow on you alot & to be honest, its like he never went away! But Welcome back!.Still will buy the release, when it is...you'd have to be a cheap punk not to for this album!
