this is a fantastic cd!
i was eagerly waiting for the day that it came out & bought it on the 1st day. i knew next to none of the songs but after i listened to it a couple of times i began to like EVERY song. i loved the first 2 cds aswell so im looking forward to the 2008 album (if there is going to be 1)
Lame - By: Mr. S. Ritchie, 10 Mar 2007
If I'd known this was produced by Ministry of Sound before I got it I wouldn't have bought it. If you like lame "Club Classics" & own best of Ibiza albums then you'll like this. If you like proper DJs who don't still play tunes that sounds like they came from the Human Traffic film then stick with 2 Many DJs.
Bit of a Miss Mash - By: C. A. Richardson, 07 Mar 2007
Having brought the first 2 mash up mix cds i was salivating when i heard the third instalment was out. However i have to say i was a bit disappointed the first 6 tracks on CD1 are brilliant but after those it seems to die off towards the middle.
CD2 is a bit too trancy for my liking & the majority of tracks i had never heard before so couldn't reallly appreciate the mashing.
I still love the cut up boys they are the best thing to come out of the MOS stable but 2007 was not as good as the previous two.
Please MOS why dont you let the cut up boys loose on say MASH UP THE 80'S or MASH UP THE 90'S etc. A year is too long to wait for another mash up
Great Megamix from the Ministry of Sound - By: Joachim Heimfeld, 06 Mar 2007
I have to agree with other posters; this CD is excellent! The mixes are real good & the incorporation of many mixing styles, including samples from songs alll the way back to the the 70s, 80s, 90s make it unique & different from many other mixes.
There are quite a few Hip/Hop songs to start off with on CD1, while graduallly finishing with more club songs. I am not a hip-hop fan, but these songs were quite okay & nicely mixed into songs from the clubs like Boogie 2Nite. Starting with track 12 on the first CD is when it gets reallly good. It graduallly gets better & better.
CD2 is my favourite, demonstrating the more club, house songs, with some nice Acapella versions & excellent vocals. I also think The Mash Up Mix 2006 was better, but this CD is definitely worth buying.
Mash it up! - By: G. Wheeler, 01 Mar 2007
Anyone not familiar with the cut-up boys are in for a real treat with this album. The boys cut up acapellas & stick them seamlessly through instrumentals of popular dance songs. If you're unsure whether to buy this album, listen to Judge Jules on Radio1 for the first half hour for their exclusive cut-up mix. That will give you an indication as to whether you like the style or not. Onto the review.
The Mash-up Mix 2006 was an excellent album & featured two completely differrent styles on each CD. House tracks with rap & dance vocals over the top of the instrumentals & the 2nd CD was trance & hard house with acapellas over the top, this blend worked extremely well & gave the listener a fresh approach to each CD. 2007 is no exception.
The 1st CD starts out with Timbalands excellent beats mixing through to Fatboy Slim's Right Here, Right Now. As the CD continues, it slowly becomes more commercial tunes that get the cut up doseage. The CD works well but I can't help but think the 2006's first CD was slightly stronger here. The mixing is average with some mixes working better than others. This is just a minor point though. The CD ends with Eric Prydz newest chart topper Proper Education into Mylo's-In My Arms. It's not a bad CD & the acapellas work extremely well & blend well with the songs chosen. Highlights on this CD are definately tracks 9 & 10 with the best cut-ups out the lot.
The 2nd CDs for me are always my favourite as, being a trance fan I love the way the cut-up boys seem to pull off amazing remixes of classic trance songs that make the vocals fit. (Strange World VS Raindrops on 2006's CD is the best mashup Ive ever heard) The 2nd CD however, starts off where the first CD left off with commercial electro & slowly moves into harder trance. The only let down I could find with this CD was the awful Mason remix. From Track 9 & onwards the CD dives head-first into trance with some wicked remixes. Public Domain's dirty hard trance tune gets a good dose of vocal treatment & the vocals fit very well. The mixing on the 2nd CD is slightly better than the first CD but I feel the songs seem to mix into the next a little too early. This is apparent alll the way through the CD. The CD ends in cut-up boys fashion, hard, fast & commercial. The tracks that stand out on this CD are: Tracks 3, 9, 10 an through to track 16.
Overalll I would recommend this CD as it is an excellent display of cutting & a true indication as to what the cut-up boys are capable of. However, I think the Mash-up Mix 2006 was slightly better than this version due to slightly better mixing.
There is also exclusive content with the first CD which is a nice touch & features exclusive bootlegs & the 'Minimash' movie. Haven't had a chance to check this out yet but I would recommend this CD to anyone who loves dance music in alll forms.
On another note, there are quite a few dance-rap remixes with rapping through the songs, if people hate rap with a passion...steer clear of this CD!
