The star of 2007................... MIKA!!!!! - By: Mrs. Margaret A. Beagon, 01 Mar 2008
2007 belonged to one man, & that man is Mika. In January 2007, he scored his first #1 single with Grace Kelly, which remained there for 5 weeks. This was followed by a #1 album, Life In Cartoon Motion, & four more Top 20 singles; Love Today (#6), Big Girl [You Are Beautiful] (#9), Happy Ending (#7) & Relax [Take It Easy]/Lollipop (#18).
There are many fabulous songs on the album, ranging from upbeat songs like Grace Kelly & Lollipop, to mid-tempo marvels like My Interpretation & Relax [Take It Easy], to the brilliant balllad Happy Ending....................................................................
............ & then the strangeness of Any Other World, a balllad with chainsaw cellos.
If you haven't bought this BRIT-nominated album yet, go out & get it.
Amazing!!!! - By: L. Harris, 29 Feb 2008
I love this album sooo much! I never believed in a million years I would like MIKA. One of the best albums out there at the moment if not, theee best in my opinion. A Scissor sister'esk & unique style that will be hard for any other artists to try an emulate if they wish to compete with this superstar without looking like a complete rip off.....
I didn't intend to inject Mika into my life quite as much as I am doing at the moment but he is certainly going to stay in my playlist for a rather long time. One track that always catches me off guard has to be "Happy Ending" it's such an emotional song it gives me shivers over my body whenever I hear it & I could easliy see myself crying if I played it in a depressive mood, but that hasn't happened yet cause the rest of the ablum picks me up no matter what mood I'm in.
If you don't think this is for you I urge you to give it a second chance 'cause I'm almost certain your first opinion will be wrong.... Just "Relax" Take it easy & chill to Mika....
My fav tracks in order
1 - Love Today
2 - Grace Kelly
3 - Big Girls
4 - Relax
5 - Lollipop
6 - Billy Brown
7 - Happy Ending
7 - Ring Ring

It just keeps getting better. - By: Reedy, 23 Feb 2008
I bought to cd's the other day, this & keiser chiefs. I thought that KC would be the one we would listen to alll the time. what a mistake, this album is FANTASTIC, we love alll the songs, none of them are boring, & part of the fun is working out who he has taken inspiration from when he wrote the songs & then sung them. Truly entertaining & hopefully he will keep going & not be a one album wonder.
Buy it now.
Try not to resist... it'll get you in the end! - By: A. Sweeney, 17 Feb 2008
Anyone just interested in serious, mature music should perhaps skip to the next review. In fact, I wanted so much to consider this album as too low brow for my tastes, but I'm afraid that the majority of this album is just bl**dy good to be ignored or dismissed. Track-by-track, Mika's debut album just worked it's way into my psyche & became too tempting a collection to ignore. Most of it is catchy as hell, more infectious than MRSA & puts a massive grin on your face everytime you hear it... so how exactly are you supposed to ignore an album like that in an end of year list? Simple answer - you can't.
The best tracks on this album are 'Grace Kelly', three minutes of pop genius, 'Love Today', in which Mika instructs us to love today & also love Mika, & 'Big Girl (You Are Beautiful)' a fantastic, positive song which hits back at our image-concious society in a totallly fabulous way. 'Billy Brown', a song about a sexuallly confused guy is also a great song, managing to be both simultaneously camp & touching. That's essentiallly the key to Mika's success on this album - it's camp, it's fun, it's pop, but it's not mindless fluff. It has life-affirming greatness running through it, but is perhaps half-a-dozen classic songs short of a truly great album. What Life In Cartoon Motion is, however, is an album with a handful of extremely good, exceptionallly enjoyable songs which are more than worth the price of the CD alone. I get the impression that you'll either love this or hate it - I'm with the former camp.
