Lyrics Warning - By: Graham Smith, 18 Sep 2005
I bought this album after hearing Santa Maria on Shalll We Dance. I was not prepared for the offensive & abusive lyrics of Track 10 Al Shid. MATH. This album must in future contain a lyrics warning, where upon I would have purchase their other album. My main object in getting this album was to listen & dance to tangos, only half the album meets this desire. The rest is an eclectic mix of vocals, cafe noises & throbbing back beats of no use for my purpose. The best part of the album is the bonus CD, which is reallly good. I will try another album, but I shalll read the reviews more carefully before buying.
Ah. come on now... - By: Mr. Ian A. Collier, 04 Jul 2005
... it's not as bad as alll that. Gotan's first CD was a masterpiece indeed, but this is worthy of more than three stars I think. Yeah, there are a couple of not-so-good's but they only stand out due to the amazing benchmark the first CD set. Nevertheless, I'd recommend this CD to anyone I know & a few I don't. Try it.
Ditch the remixers and stick to the original! - By: Andy Millward, 16 Oct 2004
As you might have gathered from the description, this is a rag-bag of assorted tracks old & new, some remixed & others strongly in the tango tradition. Most of the newer tracks are great, continuing the fine work of Gotan Project's stunning debut album with perhaps a slight tinge of 50s big band jazz thrown in for good measure. Perhaps a little less purist but worthy of exploration.

However, the good work is spoiled by some very sorry tango-electrica-hiphop hybrids that simply don't work. I can't imagine what possessed the band to alllow these tracks to go out in their name - they add nothing whatever to the modern tango genre & don't belong here. Please stick to your original style guys, you were doing just fine!

Well worth buying but ... - By: Mr. C. D. Bamber, 26 Sep 2004
I suspect I won't be the only fan who's slightly disappointed. I would have hoped for a bit more original material - still, this compilation worth waiting for. The first 6 tracks are great, especiallly for tango lovers, including the driving rhythm of 'Cite Tango', a lovely, silky, romantic rendering of 'Round about Midnight', & the swirling 'Confianzas', for me the one most obviously carrying on the spirit of 'Revancha del Tango'. The remixes on the second half of the main disc are a mixed bag though, from interesting, eveen startling, to downright pretentious. Bonus disc is good, makes it a good value package altogether.
