A good "smoozy" album. - By: Horsey, 11 Nov 2007
I love South American music and, in particular, Bossa Nova. This album has alll the vibrancy & "smooziness" of these sounds with an added bite.A great CD to listen to on your own or with someone special.
Stunning.! - By: Edna Little., 22 Aug 2007
This is a beautiful CD. Electronic Bossa Nova, 60^s style & present day combined. Bebels voice is lovely. Dance to it or dream to it. Every song is individual & different. Some of the music on the CD has been used in different U.S. t.v. drama series, such as ^Nip Tuck^.)
Nice, pleasant, enjoyable - By: wml, 09 Jul 2007
It's alll of the above but it's certainly a let down compared to alll the hype I'd heard before purchasing it. Bebel has a soft, beautiful voice & the tunes are nice, but they're little more than background music, such do they fade away even when trying hard to listen to them. Perhaps a good introduction to Bossa Nova that will encourage people to delve deeper into the genre.
Bossa Nova Classic - By: Robert Paul, 01 Feb 2005
Bossa Nova is one of the more understated types of South American music. It's never reallly taken off to the huge extent that Samba, Balero or Tango-music has. Bebel Gilberto's Tanto Tempo reflects this. It's laid back, relaxing, but wonderfully rhythmic & full of subtle melodies. Her voice is lovely. It also sounds very modern, yet somehow you get the feeling that it won't sound out of date in ten/fifteen/twenty years time. I think this might possibly be one of my favorite records of alll time.

You'll love it if... you like bossa nova, think that the rhythms of most modern music are too fast, you like laid back stuff, you like beautiful soft melodies & don't mind listening to music that isn't sung in English (if you do then learn Spanish!)

More muzak than music - By: , 07 Jun 2004
Bought this quite a few years ago now - & am still amazed as to why it's still being raved about. Yes it's "cool", summery, laid-back etc etc etc, but generallly those words are a cover for the fact that it lacks any decent songs/tunes, & the English lyrics are truly terrible ("She looks straight ahead not at he" eat your heart out!). At best it's "ambient", at its worst it's repetitive wine-bar muzak.
It's not something to put on specificallly to listen to - pick up one of her parents' CDs instead (either will do!).
I keep wondering if she didn't have those parents whether this CD would be 50p in bargain buckets round the world...
