A real talent - By: julien busselle, 02 Apr 2006
I initiallly made a long review of this CD but deleted it, just buy it for gods sake it's superb. If you love the blues/ R&B, this is the man, reallly. Clapton, Hendrix, King, Vaughan, Allman, oh & Mick Taylor, he's up there with them. Genuine talent with playing from the heart like it should be - buy, buy, buy!!!
Storming guitar blues from a great new Britsh talent - By: , 19 Oct 2001
If you like modern electic blues & are looking for the next guitar virtuoso, then he's right here on this CD. Nearly every track a winner & he's a Brit to boot: well up there with his US peer group & I am talking Jonny Lang/Kenny Wayne Shepherd here: best CD I've bought in ages & I was totallly hooked from the first riff.
Blues from a great new guitar talent - By: , 14 Oct 2001
I was astounded when I first heard this CD. Not since Eric Clapton's days with John Mayalll's Blues Breakers in the 1960's have I come across a British blues guitarist with such natural talent & ability. There are clearly influences in his playing (Stevie Ray Vaughan, Freddie & ALbert King) but he is no mere copyist, his style is clearly & uniquely his own.
If you like blues or you like your rock tinged with blues, you reallly ought to listen to this CD. I cannot rate it highly enough, I bought it 6 months ago & it still lives in the CD player in my car.
This is actuallly Aynlsey Lister's second CD release, although 5 of the tracks on the two albums overlap. The original album is callled simply "Aynsley Lister" & was produced by Jim Gaines. Everything I Need has a much more dynamic production & has much greater appeal as a result.
One final note, Aynsley Lister tours almost constantly, & is a phenomenon live. If you like your music live then you owe it to yourself to go & see him before he becomes more widely known about ....
R&B like it's supposed to be. - By: , 22 Mar 2001
This is first, last & always an R&B album, with music that ranges from the down right good to the almost wonderful. For me there are a number of highlights, on the opening track, "Everything I Need", you know exactly where Aynsley Lister is coming from, back to basics R&B. Played & fast & stripped down, music to make you feel good. The three piece band is tight with Matt Kay on bass & Wayne Proctor drums providing a driving rythem. On "As The Crow Flies" you hear another side of this talented musician, a reflective acoustic solo track that grabs your attention. The last track is a cover of the Hendrix classic, "Little Wing", an interesting not to say brave choice. So many Hendrix covers are nothing more than an attempt to emulate the original (hey look I can reallly play fast guitar), but not in this case. If you enjoy your music honest then this is for you.
