Takes Me Back To The Old Days - By: Christopher "TheDonMega" Wood, 01 Jun 2008
This is a brilliant album. Truth be told I never properly listened to the album fully, was always mesmerised by the big tracks, being Rollin', My Generation, My Way, Boiler, Take A Look Around, & by the time I'd over-used them I was on to another album, a Blink 182 or The Offspring album. So I missed a full album of good songs, bar 2 songs, Livin' It Up & Hold On(plus the Intro & Outro, but they don't reallly count). This is the sort of music I miss, the sort of music that got me into Rock music(I think Rollin' was one of the first rock songs I heard on the radio before I delved into the "rock scene"). I left the "rock scene" as soon as bands like Bullet For My Valentine came about. I never even listened to a song of theirs, I just didn't like that goth sort of look(was the only comparison I could give back then). This was one of the albums I listened to repeatedly while in the music wilderness before i moved over to Hip-Hop, but I can still listen to this album & rock out, it's still in my heart to enjoy it, & may it stay that way forever.
You will want more!!! - By: Cheese, 09 Mar 2008
When I listen to some of the rubbish that is coming out of bands these days, it is no wonder that I resort to the great sound of Limp Bizkit. The band produces a mixture of sounds & i'm sure that there is a track on this album for every listener.

The sing along lyrics for tracks such as 'Rollin'', 'My Way', Take a Look Around' & 'Boiler' mean that you will remeber this album for the lyrics but you will also remeber it for the great guitar bass & drumming. The sound in 'My Generation' is some of the best that I have heard from a track. The start of the track involves a smalll solo beat from John Otto; whilst it not being the fastest beat out there, it hold the same beat through out the track. After this, the guitar, bass & Dj Lethal come in to make an amazing 'moshable' sound.

Another great song is 'My Way'. The limited lyrics usuallly critisised by critics are not in this song unlike some like 'Rollin'. The song also uses a clean sound that isn't heavy but is still quality. The turntableing of Dj Lethal also splits the song up perfectlly.
One problem but not worth taking a star off - By: H. Cleary, 07 Nov 2007
Ok i'll just get straight to the point...the instrumental side of this record is great!

Wes isn't the most technical guitarist out there...in fact hes far from it, but these days too many people are looking for speedy riffs & forget about creativity & simply using a guitar to better a track as opposed to taking over it with satriani like solos.

Otto is a great drummer he adds to wes's melody perfectly as dose Mr Rivers with his responsive bass lines that he manages to weave into wes's guitar doodles...I'd say lethals job is to put the 'icing on the cake'...or the limp on the bizkit..ehem.

Ok so heres the touchy part,
i love the tone of Freds singing voice dont get me wrong although i was a little disappointed to find out that the majority of the vocals on the track 'hold on' were actuallly sung by Scott Weiland but other than that i think Dursts vocal performance on the album is great! HOWEVER...it's let down drasticallly by his lyrics (not in alll tracks) I'm mostly talking about the first track on the record 'Hot dog'. This reallly took the biscuit...the melodies Wes manages to hook up on this track are awesome! In fact the whole instrumental track is astounding BUT then we have fred attempting to offend Trent Reznor?
it came as a surprise when it hit the chorus on first listen as the verse lyrics have nothing to do with Trent & actuallly make some sense.
this reallly messed the track up & it's just a real shame i guess.

Other than that i love the sound & production of this record...lethal adds nice little touches to the end of certain tracks with short outro's that usuallly sound very trip hop orientated... very relaxing. It's a shame some of them arnt a longer.

I'd say its worth the cash especiallly as its going for around £2 on here these days since the band totallly slipped out of the mainstream...or even the universe?

Amazing, just where has this talent gone? - By: YoungB, 18 Mar 2007
If Limp Bizkit could reproduce an album like this, well, it would be amazing for music. This is filled with great metal music & surprisingly good rhymes from Durst. We alll know about Hot Dog, the track that manages to fit 46 uses of the 'F Word' into a song & still sounds good. But Rollin', the lead single, is a prime example of how good Limp Bizkit can be. With the help of hip hop superstars Xzibit & DMX this album manages to appeal to both Heavy metal & rap fans alike, a rarity for an album nowadays. Chocolate Starfish is a great album from a band who have since disappeared from the limelight & only occasionaly produce a song anywhere near as good as those produced here. Like this? Try Linkin Park.
Annoyingly good - By: Peter Bennett, 27 Feb 2007
Fred Durst has come a long way in his ten year music career. Limp Bizkit have gone from being the biggest rock act of the 90s, to a band that are not only do not sell records, but are truly hated by most of America. Remember that most reviews you've read were written after Limp Bizkit went out of fassion, not at the time of the album, but this is from a man who still enjoys Limp Bizkit, & sees no reason why everyone else hates him.

After Run DMC feat Aerosmith's "Walk this way" the 90s were becoming dominated by rap metal, & bands were willing to add more controversy & explicit language to their music. Did Limp Bizkit take this to far? Too damn right they did! Not only do Limp Bizkit constantly say F-ck, show off their hate to other bands quite openly, but they also combine the genres way too much. Papa roach are considered rap metal, yet they don't combine metal head riffs from songs like Full Nelson, while the lead singer is using phrases like "Who's in da house", or in the middle of the album add in an R'n'B style beat like Getcha Groove on. At this time period though, this was taking things to the extreme, which the public always loved, but it is no surprise that todays Emo-pop-rock generation do not appreciate an album like this.

So why have I given it four stars? The answers is simple: The music is good! Wes dominated the writing of this album, & perhaps he is the missing factor of the band, & his departure is why the band are hated today. But this is not the issue. The fact is that this album topped the charts, got decent reviews, & lets face it, had you jumping around your room for three weeks. Look back to year 2000, Marilyn Manson, Blink 182, The bloodhound gang... none of these bands are selling particularly well today, but today's a different issue. If you like an hour of headbanging rap metal, Limp Bizkit are for you.
