Innovations - a milestone- By: philp, 07 Jan 2003 I bought this on vinyl in the early 70's when I was a student, having heard a couple of tracks on the (sadly missed) Alexis Korner radio show. Innovations is made up of a number of home recordings (blues-folk-jazz) made by Power, with friends such as Jack Bruce, John Mclaughlin etc. I'd never heard of the guy before, but the sound of his voice is so distinctive, that once heard, never forgotten. The quality of the recordings is nothing special, but that's not the point. The man's sound is unique. As a new Amazon subscriber I was amazed to find him still available on CD, & am awaiting my first order now. I guess I would recommend one of the CD's now, as they seem to include key tracks from Innovations, but the memory of hearing that first track ('I'm going down to Louisiana') being played one Saturday afternoon 30 years ago stays with me. Buy a CD & you'll probably want the vinyl too.
