These people just dont know!!!! - By: Mr. L. nallamilli, 24 Nov 2006
To be honest Luda has been rated the best n has sold more records than anyone else ever, even elvis n the beatles!!! This album is tip top of the hip hop scene & alll of his albums after this have not measured up. As this is his first album its a litte more grimey & has a more dirty south feel than his later more commercial albums. Every track is good & the skits are funny too. There are a few outstandin tracks that you will of heard before & be familiar with but if you dont own this album your missin out on some excellent tracks & the freestyle feat 4-ize, (mouthing off) is brilliant. The only tracks you'll be skippin will be the skits, 1st & 10th n maybe whats your fantasy (as it was killed afta release) but every track is worth listenin 2.
Are you Guys Serious? - By: , 12 Dec 2004
I think the previous reviewers are just plain wrong. This is luda's best album or if not a very a close second too Word of mouf.

Chicken-n-Beer & his latest effort Red light district are nowhere on the level that he was on this album & the follow up Word of mouf

If you only get one luda album be it word of mouf,if you dying for more luda then get this.

Back For The First Time - And it wont be the last - By: , 24 Aug 2003
By now you've probably heard many of the infectious beats & lyrics concealed within this album, but for those of you that haven't do not listen to doubters of luda's talent. Every song on this album is a lyrical masterpiece of raw southern style. Some of the beats are gritty, but it suits the mood of the album to a tee. Luda's humour shines through in his rhymes & many of his songs will leave you smiling if not jumping out of your seat. The album contains classics such as "Ho" & "What's Ya Fantasy" & puts accross Luda's sexual tendancies as well as his humour. The more you listen to this album, the more it grows on you, Ludacris is infectious. If you wanna experience a little ruff Southern Hospitality, pick this up.
Be prepared to skip through to the good tracks - By: Iain Ashby, 30 Jan 2003
To say that this is a bad album would be a lie, but to say that it is the very embodiment of average is better. Southern Hospitality, Ho, Whats your fantasy, & Phat Rabbit are the only songs worth your money. This is ok as they are alll fantastic songs, if the whole album were as good as these then it would have been the best debut album since Nas' Illmatic. Buy this album if you love these songs & prepare to be patient with the rest as it'll take you number of full listenings till you even start to appreciate them.
"Word Of Mouf" is a LOT better - By: , 05 May 2002
This CD does have some very good tracks, such as "What's Your Fantasy", "Southern Hospitality" & "Catch Up". However, the rest of this album seems to be just lame space-fillers. Quite disappointing.

But don't let this put you off Ludacris. His new album "Word Of Mouf" is a LOT better. If you haven't bought a Ludacris album, don't get "Back for the First Time" as it may put you off Ludacris. "Word Of Mouf" shows Ludacris's real talent.
