close but no cigar - By: , 22 Feb 2006
I first heard millencolin on one of epitaphs punkorama compilations, & after hearing Farewell My Hell on the latest edition, i decided to buy an album. I heard pennybridge pioneers was supposed to be their best album & after listening through once i wasn't exactly blown away. Now it's grown on me & although its hardly lyrical genius, its good upbeat pop punk as it should be. I'm not a big fan of the first track 'no cigar' unlike most people. Best tracks are Pepper & Hellman with good choruses & strong drum beats. If you like pop punk it is a good album, but it doesn't have a huge impact, with similar vocals throughout.
This is a good introduction to the band but if you enjoy this the buy Kingwood, their newest album, which shows the change in the band with greater depth
Awesome pop-punk album - By: , 26 Jul 2005
This has to be my favourite modern pop punk album. In fact it is right up there with some of my other favourite albums of alll time like the pistols or the clash. Its incredibly catchy from beginning to end. Unlike most, i didnt hear of millencolin from tony hawks, i heard bowmore & fingers crossed off punk-o-rama compilations (which are worth buying if you want to expand your taste in new punk bands). After getting this album i loved it, & forced my friends to listen to it, most of whom recognised no cigar from tony hawks & loved it. That is one of my favourite songs on the album along with Stop to Think & the balllad which is a truly beautiful, hugely underrated song in my opinion.
Anyone who likes pop-punk will love this band, who are totallly different from blink 182 or other such sellouts, but are an immense combination of catchy poppy tunes & real punk roots.
Every song on the album is memorable & instantly likeable with fox being the only slightly weaker point in the album

Simply Brilliant - By: , 23 Mar 2005
How this band have not got that big over here i will never know.
Stunning is reallly alll that can be said. This is my favourite millencolin album. The reason being it was the first album of their's that i heard. Everyone has different oppinions & with this band most people tend to like the album they heard first. This is simply because every album is awesome & it is so hard to actuallly decide which one is the best.
No Cigar for me is my alll time favourite punk song. Its fast, catchy & was made to be played at extremely loud volumes. If you have never heard a millencolin album i would recommend this as a start point. They blend punk rock, with emo.(Yes Emo not scr-emo. people tend to get the two confused.)and end up with 14 songs that will blow you away. They have the dancing songs, the sing alongs & the songs you'll listen to on repeat when your girlfriend dumps you. it's alll there on one smalll compact disc. Buy it.
Wasnt what I expected but still cool - By: Mr. M. R. Short, 05 Mar 2005
I heard No cigar, thought it was cool then bought this.
I thought the rest of the album would be a bit more of the style of No cigar but its reallly lighthearted. Most of the songs are excellent but a couple of the chorsus' are annoying like material boy. Worth buying if u are a fan of pop punk-rock
Classic - By: , 20 Jul 2004
One Of The best albums ever! I must say this album is way better than any Blink or NFG album could EVER be. Supperior to any of this new fad callled emo. This CD shows truely how crappy the emo scene is. It shows why every Yellocard & Blink 182 should reallly reconsider ever playing "music" again. An absolute must-have for any fan of ANY music genre. Every song is gem.
