Beware Live tracks ! - By: Smedley, 02 Aug 2008
As per most of the other reviews of this CD it's a good compilation, for a ridiculously cheap price, however i reallly only bought this CD for "Solitary Man" & "Girl, you'll be a woman soon". Sadly both tracks are taken from the Live album "Hot August Night", though this is not indicated by the usual "(Live)" on the track listing. So be warned, if you want studio versions of these or "Kentucky woman" which is taken from the album "Gold-Live" look elsewhere.
Excellent music, exceptional value - By: Stephen B. Peddie, 14 Jul 2008
Having recently rediscovered Neil Diamond through his 12 Songs & Home Before Dark albums, I decided I wanted to replace a similar 'best of' album I bought years ago on vinyl. I searched alll over Amazon, couldn't find anything well recommended so I bought Hot August Night. This was a mistake. The Greek concerts may have been something special but the recording is poor & the collection of songs not reallly what I was looking for. I then stumbled upon this Best Of in my local supermarket of alll places. It is exactly what I wanted & exactly what you want if you're looking for a comprehensive collection of his early & so very well known hits. And at £2.98 it's such good value it would be almost rude not to buy it!

Not quite the best!!!!!! - By: Mr. Darrell Lahan, 12 Jun 2008
A few good tracks but then a few absent tracks including 'Beautiful Noise'. Could have been worse but could have been a lot better too.
Diamond still shines! - By: Mr. R. C. Auty, 11 Jun 2008
I was a great fan many years ago, had alll the tapes, & a few cd's. Then lost touch, his 80's & 90's stuff didn't do much, but recently with his newest & 12 Songs, my interest has been rekindled. Couldn't resist this at the rediculously low price, & it is great, & embarrasingly I know most of the words. brilliant.
