A Positive High Note in Sheryl's Career - By: , 13 Oct 2002
It took me a while to get into Sheryl Crow's music, but when i did it changed my perception on music as a whole. I've always been a fan of live music so when i heard that Sheryl Crow had released a live album i was more than willing to try it out. Straight away, the atmosphere of a live venue was in my bedroom, i'm not too sure who the man introducing Sheryl is, but, it certainly adds to the feel of the CD. A CD like this always shows me how far a particular artist has come since their debut release, with music icons such as Eric Clapton & Chrissie Hynde making an appearance shows that their must be good quality music on show.
With popular favourites such as 'Everyday...' & 'If it makes you happy', invites even the far out corners of the listening crowd of which aren't that familiar with her music, to come a little closer. One criticism i would make is that there isn't enough material from her debut album, but on the other hand she plays alot of her then recent material, which keeps the hardcore fans interested. The highlight would have to be 'Tombstone Blues' as everybody who has taken part in the show joins in to end the show on a positively high note.
The album runs from the sublime ('Difficult kind') to the raunchy ('There goes the neighbourhood'), a song to suit even the most unadventurous of listeners.
A must for those who crave to get the atmosphere of a live gig in their own bedroom/living room without having to move an inch. Go buy!!
Why release this? - By: , 12 Apr 2002
I'm sorry to say this, but this live album should not have been released. Although the musicianship is fine, the cast of friends first-rate & the songs are strong, Sheryl's voice is most definitely not. Her voice sounds tired & she seems to be having trouble keeping in tune. I was reallly shocked that Sheryl (supposedly a perfectionist) would alllow this to be released. The only track worth the money is Stevie Nicks' rendition of her classic song "Gold Dust Woman", & tellingly, Sheryl only sings backup vocals on this.

A missed opportunity, & one for completists only.

You either like her or you don't - By: , 05 Aug 2000
....You searched for Sheryl Crow & so you obviously areintent on buying her stuff - if you like her, this album is a perfectexample of what she is worth...the fact that she is playing with some of the most famous music stars from around the world is an added bonus. Some tracks such as TombStone Blues are a lil too over-sophisticated, but tracks such as Strong Enough & The Difficult Kind are brilliant collaborations & amazing listening. If you have even hummed a Sheryl Crow song to yourself in the past, GET THIS ALBUM RIGHT AWAY!
A great live album - By: , 30 Jun 2000
Sheryl Crow is a great song-writer of our time & this album shows that her songs lend themselves well to the stage. Difficult Kind with Sarah M. stood out to me far more than the album version. Quite simply, this album has great songs, & Eric Clapton, Stevie Nicks & Chrissy Hynde guesting. Bonus.
