Great Yma Sumac Compilation- By: Donald L. Pierson, 18 Jun 2003 Although the booklet packaging borrows text & images without permission or credit from SunVirgin.com, it is still one of the best currently available compilations by Yma Sumac & a good place to start for new fans, while seasoned ones will find it enjoyable as well. One thing that adds to it is the inclusion of a few songs that were not heard until recently on a couple compilations from England on the ReVola label. Booklet contains errors (Yma Sumac had MANY singles, not only one as stated, & none of the tracks were previously-unreleased), & is printed on a heavy, soft, absorbent paper that soaked the ink like a sponge making it hard to read but even so, it is filled with never-before-seen photos. Anyone who thinks that she was ever "Amy Camus" never tried to spell her pre-Capitol Records name backwards: Imma Sumack! Although a sampling of her 1943 pre-Hollywood, pre U.S. folk tracks from Argentina are missing, here she is at her most exotic best & a great cross section of her career.
